Lineup 2015

Recommended Posts

Nah why is editing posters to share on Twitter a thing? What's to gain from fooling people about a lineup? The posters are nice and have a good selection of acts but don't see any reason to do that.

The T section became obsessed with doing it and it was kinda embarrassing. This may have been my fault, as when that one was posted on here the other day with Kendrick Lamar subbing, I said it'd probably fool people on Twitter, but I wasn't suggesting we actually do it.

PABH sounds viable

so I'll put drenge as an FR sub?

dropping macdemarco to just a standard FR act

I'd keep Mac as 2nd on the bill for the FR, but with him having done so few UK gigs it's hard to judge his fan base over here.

If Drenge were to sub the FR I don't think it would be on Metallica day, swap them & Julian Casablancas maybe?

I won't imagine Julian Casablancas and The Voids are going to be there, certainly doesn't jump out to me as an act that's going to play second fiddle in FR at R/L, he'll probably just take it elsewhere

Drenge seem to me as more of an NME band, wouldn't play a big slot but they'd definitely get the turn out to play it anyway

Refused

Funeral For A Friend

Gallows

And So I Watch You From Afar

Modern Baseball

Pierce The Veil

Bury Tomorrow

The Story So Far

frnkiero andthe cellabration

Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!

Dropkick Murphy's

Anti-Flag

The Menzingers

Cancer Bats

Feed The Rhino

As I have both Drenge and FYS down for Main Stage.

That'd be cool but FYS on The Pit would be pretty awesome

Your NME on Friday is great but a few acts on the Saturday and Sunday are in strange positions

  • Catfish would now probably take up a higher position and are certainly a bigger act to R&L's core demo than The Cribs
  • Spector are really on the decline; can't see them taking such a high slot
  • The Wombats have pretty much sold out an academy tour and are playing an arena in Liverpool; I'd say they'd be placed higher than Peace, possibly even higher than Tame Impala

Your main stage is pretty believable however I don't think Temples would play that far up the line up; their biggest headline show has been at The Forum which is incredibly small for that position, even Sleeping with Sirens have sold out two nights there on their co-headlining tour with Pierce the Veil

Also Slaves seem far more suited to NME

I haven't a doubt there's a lot of people who would watch The Wombats, but there is absolutely no way they are going to play above Peace or Tame Impala, Peace played 6th on the main last year so aren't going to settle for less than sub in the tent, and Peace played third top a couple of years ago in the tent, so the same implies for them, and The Wombats most definitely won't be headlining NME

Would Deaf Havana sub NME?

I could see the run being Closing Set / Tame Impala / The Wombats / Peace; people on here seem to really overestimate how big Peace are, bare in mind that despite them doing multiple dates in each city on their upcoming tour they usually add up to a small/half-sold academy and a fair few of the shows didn't sell out tremendously fast

I don't think peace are as big as chvrches/the 1975/metronomy were this time last year - might be come august but

for this reason I don't think peace will be any higher than NME subs

I think that tour has been mostly disregarded as it's an intimate tour at venues smaller than they've done for two years. Also I remember it selling pretty quickly as 2nd and 3rd dates were being added on the day of sale.

Has everyone heard Kendrick's new song btw? Would absolutely love for him to be at R&L but I just can't see it myself :(

Would love him too and in the past few years we've had a few rap/hip-hop artists in prominent positions:

2014

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
Schoolboy Q
2013
Eminem
A$AP Rocky
Earlwolf
2012
OFWGKTA
So I'd say it's likely we get a couple again this year, especially with the festival's direction, and Kendrick would be my ideal choice!

I'd put the Wombats 5th on the main, although they could do NME. If the Kooks were put on 4th on the NME last year there's no chance of them putting Wombats as headliners, even if they'd get the crowd. Peace's last 2 tours have been support/warm up shows but they could sell out an academy tour, putting them at Chvrches/Metronomy/1975 level and NME sub would be the best place for them.

For NME this year I'd say

Libs day -

BMTH

Twin Atlantic

Mumfords Day -

-Knife Party-

Interpol

Catfish & The Bottlemen

Metallica Day -

DeadMau5

Peace

If it was meant to be an "intimate" tour why did they add dates according to demand and have some of the shows on the tour taking place more than a month after the album is released? What's the promotional sense in that?

It's an extensive tour of small venues, once this jaunt is done I reckon their next stint will be a very short academy tour, which isn't really NME sub level
