Mmmm Tasty stuff that Melvins opted to go for Metallica. A bit of Glasto copy cat stuff going on here.

Jesus fucking wept upon the cross, how the fucking hell is R&L booking Metallica copying Glasto. They've headlined three times already god damn it. I suppose if Foos headline Glasto next year then whenever they play R&L next it'll be because they're copying Glasto. Or if Arcade Fire headline R&L again it'll be because of Glasto. c**ts.

Yes. But there was a band, I can't remember who it was, but a few years ago were claimed as a uk exclusive at reading but played T as well.

I think it's far more likely that people misinterpreted an exclusive claim. The Strokes and MCR were apparently exclusives and everyone shat themselves when they were announced for T, but nothing was ever said about them being UK exclusives. It was just assumed.

Ah right! After how desperately we clung onto Dave Grohl's "week at Wembley" comment I shan't read too much into that - these things can be misquoted so easily, after all - but it certainly could be a pointer. Thanks.

Nobody in their right mind genuinely expected seven nights at Wembley Stadium. It was just a nod toward the large shows they are doing.

Jamie T won't sub. I don't get where this idea comes from that he's big enough to do it.

London ticket sales. Despite not selling out the rest of his tour at smaller venues. Will pointed out earlier but nobody had predicted him to sub before he was announced.

I'm thinking Libertines alongside Linkin Park is definitely a possibility and rather likely.

Metallica
Avenged Sevenfold
Royal Blood

The Libertines
Jamie T
Catfish and the Bottlemen

Linkin Park
Fall Out Boy
Weezer

Catfish and the Bottlemen would only just about get 3rd down in NME, never mind main stage.

I think they'd be able to headline NME stage tbh or at least sub it. Tbf though I only put them there as I was struggling to think of someone else to squeeze in there of a similar genre :P

Maybe if R+L booked them for that slot a while back with similar expectations around their success that people here had, me included. I don't think they've lived up to those at all though.

The school of 2013's hyped up new bands seemed to have distributed quite evenly but for 2014 Royal Blood seem to have just absorbed everyone into their gelatinous hype ball.

Their most recent tour sold very well I believe.

Is Peace a part of the school of 13? If so I'd say they're definitely the most popular as I can barely remember any others being hyped bar palma violets and swim deep.

I agree. Royal Blood are significantly bigger, than any other up and coming band this year by a country mile.

Jamie T did sell out nearly all his venues pretty quickly as far as I remember..

Can't speak for the second Manchester Academy date, but the first one went very quickly. Speaking of that show, it was total shit, speakers far too quiet to hear anything at all rantrantrant.
