Lineup 2015

Recommended Posts

Simple Plan played a decent set to be fair, no Addicted but expected that but a nice of of 5 our of 6 songs through the middle with Jump and Loser of the year being okay, Boom just being awful haha. NFG played everything you'd want as well although a longer set so more rubbish to listen through for the better stuff.

All Time Low for have played one of the best sets for them for the weekend I think, especially at Reading that got A lot like war due to the extra 5 minute set as well.

Had read that Reading was sold out everyday this year. There were masses more people here on the Saturday though, how does that work? Very quiet on mainstage today.

Because they sell the rest of the tickets off to getmein I think so they try tell themselves it was a sell out! If anyone at Reading has seen The Gaslight set from Leeds they probably won't turn up until The Cribs start.

Now they are more mainstream etc he'll feel he doesn't need to sing all the time and just be Jared Leto letting the crowd sing.

Think it's mainly because he ruined his throat years ago, seem to remember his original screaming technique when they were much heavier was really poor

Coasts are a decent shout. I'll forget I saw that about Kendrick, he was god awful when I caught him last time!

Another downvote, WHOOP! Happy Sunday!

I seem to remember them being really poor in general, I've never been an Oli Sykes fan tbf as you can imagine. Chester Bennington has fucked his over years but he's been screaming for a LOT more years. As big a fan as I was, clear to see their time has passed now. There was a time when I got a ticket regardless to a tour, now I don't bother.

silly poo

downvote wasn't me but you deserve it for that.

Don't know Gaslight really but enjoying the set so far. Kendrick is probably the only mainstage one I'm avoiding all day. Which fits in nicely with Manchester Orchestra so happy days.

Glad you're enjoying it, if it's the same as at Leeds though it's a bit poor if you know them. Haha don't blame you man, I don't mind Manchester Orchestra and for me it's a no brainer. I'd have done Coasts, WATO although I like some of Y&Y too but I'd have probably just stayed and caught the last song and a bit of Y&Y. If you like your indie but not so awful indie and don't have a clash, Coasts are decent enough, better than Jamie XX or Jamie T bollocks!

Imagine not thinking that Metallica would be band of the weekend at any festival they play at, by a country mile. Ridiculous live.

Get a haircut and a wash you filthy mosher

hang on is this sarcasm or not?

Also if you didn't come this year they're not accommodating for you next year, everything eFestivals hates (on average) was by far the best received stuff on site

Just got home. Day 3 thoughts

Lonely the Brave - Really good, seeing the singer stand centre stage is awesome as it was just two years ago on introducing that he was behind the drummer due to his stage fright

Against Me - Didn't know too many of the songs they played but were good nonetheless

Gaslight Anthem - Started with a whimper, ended well though. Missed the middle because of a clash.

Moose Blood - Brilliant, tent was rammed.

Kwabs - Had a few hours to kill so went and sat in the tent and listened to him, was fine enough.

Glass Animals - Shite, had to leave after a few songs

The Maccabees - A lot better than I was expecting, wasn't even planning on watching them. Tons more energy in their songs than I anticipated.

We Are The Ocean - Really good set, their vocalist is incredible at times.

Manchester Orchestra - Powerful

Kendrick Lamar - Not my cup of tea but was alright. Started and finished strong, bit of a lull in the middle. Crowd really into it.

Frank Turner - Was good, prefer it with full band though.

Just got home and I've got to say this year has probably been the best of the three Reading's I've been to. Weather was actually damn good for the majority of it, and managed to pitch in a decent spot in purple which wasn't turned to mush when the rain did start.

The majority of the acts I saw were really good, with the highlights probably being Metallica, Kendrick, Foals and Limp Bizkit. The only act who really disappointed me were The Libertines who I thought were terrible. I was standing in the front section of the crowd maybe 8 or 9 rows back and it was hardly busy at all. Ended up leaving after 40 minutes because I couldn't be bothered.

Only real negatives were the walk to Tesco taking ridiculously long since there was no exit in orange camp, and the amount of knobs moshing for absolutely 0 (zero) reason. The worst was probably the moshes as alt-J played Matilda or when Catfish played Pacifier.

Any idea why the festival Republic stage was about 30 minutes ahead of what the programme said. Ended up missing we are the ocean

Thought seether and twin Atlantic were fantastic.

I've been to reading 4 years in a row now and I have to say the festival really is losing its charm.

Line ups are getting worse and worse and the people it's now attracting are just horrid.

Think I will just stick to download next year.

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
