I don't really understand what shoegaze is, I just know that bands like Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine are described as such. They're definitely heavily influenced by My Bloody Valentine though, and there's a lot of more ambient tracks on their EPs so I'd say that's probably where that's come from.

It's using lots of effect pedals to create a dreamy sound (well that is the way I think about it) and because of the pedals it is where Shoegaze gets its name as your always looking down at your shoes when playing it. The more you know!

I would say Bastille is "bigger" but both would pull big crowds, if The 1975 played lower down they'd maybe get bigger crowds than whoever was above them.

I only just clocked that FFS are listed as a rumour. Dunno how that'd go down really but I see they've a Manchester show fairly close to the fest so I guess that's why.
