NME/RADIO 1 STAGE

HAIM

OFWGKTA

Kodaline

what no

HAIM are very main stage and I think Kodaline are a bit like Mumford and Sons in that their style doesn't suit R&L past the 'upcoming band' part of their career

MAIN STAGE

The Orwells

what have they done to merit being shoved up two stages, didn't even fill the FR

I hope that isn't true, the official forums are full of c**ts. I know Neil has issues with some of them as well, maybe he needs the traffic though.

The traffic should be a big boost, and I think this place is mostly normal now so it won't frighten people. Plus new users here would be nice, even if they've found the latest HartAttack poster or their friend's cousin works in the music industry and has heard Slipknot are headlining.

One of the guys from Kings Of Leon tweeted that they're at the end of their recording cycle and that a new album is coming very soon. That could put them in the mix to headline, even though it would be an unbelievably boring (but safe) booking.

I really doubt Neil would change his policy about how he runs this site based on a need for traffic.

True, over the last six months this place has lost all of the character it used to have. I can only hope any new influx of posters have exciting stories about which gigs their relatives tried to get tickets for but couldn't.

Personally, I can't wait for a new influx of lists of bands posted one after the other with nobody commenting on them. I feel that been lacking recently, although a few have tried to carry the torch.

Yeah I have nothing but respect for the likes of VKC ploughing a lonely furrow to continue a tradition, but even his heart isn't in it. He hasn't even got the Manics or a 90s rap/hip hop act in a preposterously high slot in his latest line-up.

    • Plenty of good stuff this month. Very difficult choice, but I'm going with some of those I've listened to most (the sunny weather may also have been influential)...   1. The Coral - 388 2. Kurt Vile - Philadelphia's Been Good to Me 3. The Lemon Twigs - Look For Your Mind!   Others I've been enjoying... Laurie Anderson's live album, Broken Social Scene, Pigeon, The Black Keys, etc
    • Yesterday was was Primavera is all about and a reminder of why I come back every year. I saw 9 acts, very diverse in terms of genre and vibe, and most of them were great.  Highlights:   The Cure - have wanted to see them for years. Finally caught them and it was immaculate. Robert Smith's vocals at his age are incredible. The band sounded exactly like the albums which is impressive. 2.5 hours with basically no filler somehow.  Viagra Boys - what a front man! So much energy. Non stop moshing. Sound was great, vibe was top notch. Again 10/10 for me.  Rilo Kiley - basically what pipan said. Not a huge crowd but nice vibe, good sound. Different from the other acts I saw.   I also enjoyed the late night electronic stuff with Aurora Halal and KI/KI being fun. Caught some of Skrillex before Aurora Halal and it was cool in it's own way but not really my thing so we left.
