The Gap between Primal and Stones ?

According to the Argus newspaper (who've spoken to Eavis), the 90 mins is to build the Stones' set:

"Fans can expect a spectacular show, with 90 minutes between the end of the previous set on the Pyramid Stage - by Primal Scream - and the arrival of The Rolling Stones to allow for their set to be built.

Mr Eavis admitted that they could even be too popular. "With the whole Stones thing, there might be a problem with the size of the crowd so it's slightly worrying for me, in a way," he said. The Pyramid area has been extended to allow for the thousands of fans expected for the band's set in a bid to avoid any problems with overcrowding, Mr Eavis added. It is also hoped that festivalgoers will spread themselves out across the site to see other acts to dilute the situation with top acts performing at the same time.

He said: "I'll be in there myself. I'd love to see the Stones. It's taken a long time to get them to come and play. Everyone wants to see the Stones, basically."

Are they over estimating the crowd for the Stones do you think? Chase and Status will pull a lot of the younger crowd, Public Enemy will pull a good crowd too and with Fuck Buttons, Bootleg Beatles and Hurts in the mix, what percentage of the attendees are they expecting for the Stones do you think?

I remember before u2 were going to play everyone was saying the crowd was going to be massive the biggest ever and it didnt really happen.

Theres that much going on at glasto people get spread out. The stones will have a big crowd but nothing out of the ordinary i think.

nobody gives a shit about U2 though. they're massive, but rather uncool in this day and age. i imagine a lot of the younger crowd really didn't care about them being there. plus the rain obviously didn't help the Stones crowd will be huge. to a lot of people it's not even about the band / music. it's about the event. even Eavis is aware of how huge the crowd will be and is worried about it. if it rains, or if they're shit, obviously that crowd will thin out a lot, but the start of their set will see the Pyramid field more crowded than it has for a lonngggg time (maybe since Bowie / before the superfence went up)

U2 were a big act, but you don't see U2 charging so much for shows and pulling A list special guests.

The Rolling Stones are an act in a complete different category to any other act that's played any festival ever.

Excluding IOW, this is the first major festival that the Stones will do, or maybe ever do. Glastonbury will never forget this, it will be up there on a different level to any other band. I know that because i've never heard about an act being talked about so much than the Stones this year.

They will get a huge crowd, Chase and Status will get a good portion, but the rest of the festival could honestly be bare.

    • Guitarricadelafuente was bloody brilliant tonight. This is going to be a very Spanish focussed year for me. Rusowsky dragging out Las Ketchup on Saturday has the potential to be a Prima magic moment.
    • £112 for standard entry. No thank you.
    • Meanwhile Gracie Abrams is £92 for the cheapest with the average price around £160 for lower tier and £103 standing.   First time in a while I've gone from a definite yes to a definite no on price alone.   Amble was £31 this morning.
