The XX Live - Worth a watch?

I'm a big fan of The XX and am looking forward to seeing them, but have never seen them live before and was wondering if people who have seen them before would recommend them?

It strikes me as quite a difficult genre of music to transfer to a live show.

I've seen them at their own concert and at a festival and unfortunately found them quite dull at both.

But I suppose it depends what mood your in on the day. I don't think they suit the slot. Mid Pyramid on a nice summers day would be better suited or in a small tent/venue area.

Disagree boring live as find them quite goosebumpy tbh, they are downbeat though and it will depend if you want your final act to just wash over you rather than attack you full on!

I am a bit concerned they might get lost on the big stage though as when they played Primavera last year they were a bit lost on the stage but I enjoyed them anyway as big fan :0)

PS. how anyone think the bad buskers aka Mumfords are anything but boring is beyond me but personal taste n all lol

Don't waste your time on Mumford. The XX at the John Peel Stage a few years back was one of the greatest Glastonbury sets I have ever seen. Watching them with the sun setting in the far distance I can imagine will be delightful. Saying that, however, I will no doubt probably be watching Phoenix!

I'm a fan of their first album but what I heard of their second effort seemed to just be too much of the same again to bother giving it a full listen. I saw them at Glastonbury in 2011 and thought they were the most boring live band I've ever been unfortunate enough to see, really disappointing. I stayed for the full set thinking surely they would liven up soon but they didn't

I have seen them in venues of vaying size, tmy favourite gig by them was the Bestival show, it was just really captivating, I didn't get the sense that the sound was washed out but I guess people take different things from live performances and have differing views of what makes a 'good' performance - I think you can have plenty of energy and still turn in a bland performance (see Kaiser Chiefs in 2011)

I will be watching them on the Sunday and then will be closing my festival at the Wow Stage - not that I would have any qualms in them being the last act I saw at Glastonbury of course.

When I saw them at Bestival I was towards the left of the stage, near the front, where the wind was blowing so I got pretty much the perfect sound. That + sun setting + a healthy buzz was beautifully atmospheric.

I really, really like them on record. Me and the mate I'm going with used to play their debut all the time at uni when we were chilling/having a nap (aww) so it's gonna be good to finally get to see them. Looking forward to it.
