It's hard to imagine the right being so vitriolic if a leader from the left was to die. I know a lot of people disagreed with her policies, but think a lot of the comments are a very disrespectful. OK, you would have said them to her if she was still alive, but I think that says more about you than her. I'm not saying she was faultless, but no more than other governments - like the labour one preceeding her. She was voted in with majorities 3 times - better mandates than the current coalition.

If all we hear at this time is hour upon hour of tributes and praise being given for this women, with zero balance or hearing the other side of the story, I would say that has a big impact really.

The BBC is a laughable organisation. All afternoon they allowed praise to be put on the women with zero balance, almost totally ignoring the brimming anger a lot of people feel and express every time her name is said,

I don't think that is right for such a divisive person who didn't a lot of damage to a lot of people.

It seems the politically correct thing to say if you dislike the lady is that you "disagree with her politics, but admire her strength and the fact she followed her convictions". There are mass murderers who are strong and follow their convictions, should we also admire them? As a politicians her politics are what she should be judged on, she destroyed communities who have never recovered. By coincidence a lot of the communities she targeted were non conservative voting areas. I cant watch any more news as constant praise is going to make me sick soon.

Rather like the death of Michael Jackson, this is an event where the person who has died is someone about whom many hold strong opinions and seeing the reaction to it now across the various parts of the net I inhabit is fascinating.

I caused upset at work on a minor scale, with my reaction of utter jubilation and I have seen evidence of similar examples of people taking offense at the reaction to her death in the media and across social networks and forums elsewhere.

I don't see people making flippant comments about her death today as being any different to the multitude of Michael Jackson jokes that flew around within minutes of his death.

She acted as the figurehead to a party that crushed the working man more or less into dust. Those people fought like tigers and were left with nowhere to go & no way to get retribuiton. They've been waiting for this day to lay that ghost to rest, let them celebrate at last.

The Guardian blog that Bunique put up is good.

Why should she be lauded when she is held in utter contempt by so many. I am sorry but I don't buy into this nonsense about respect for the family. They are choosing to make her death a major public event, an event that many people do not want. Why should people not speak I'll of the dead?

What a strange nation we are. I remember last year hearing people say that raising questions about Jimmy Saville was disrepectful as he was dead and he should RIP. Really? Now we are told we should not slag off Thatcher. Sod that. I get the feeling we are going to have weeks of tribute and idolitary and balance is called for.

Showing respect to her is slightly different to being respectful. I don't think you should lie or pretend you like her or anything like that, but should any of her friends or family read these comments, then it's not particularly nice.

Say Mrs Fish was to pass on and her mortal enemy posted horrible things (which they believed to be true) on here - I'm sure it wouldn't be nice for you.

5Live started off incredibly one-sided this afternoon. Reeling out fawning, arse-licking c**ts who were painting her as some sort of coiffured Dalai Lama / Churchill crossbreed.

Peter Fucking Allen then decides that he can no longer ignore the masses of texts they are receiving and cuts to an interview with former Easington miners' lodge secretary Alan Cummings who proceeded to tell the slightly worried interviewer how he and thousands of others will be 'having a drink or two tonight' and gave a very eloquent description of how she had destroyed mining communities in the north-east and throughout the country.

The interviewer seemed incredulous as he described speaking to an old lady who had saved a small bottle of champagne for many years just for this occasion. Cheers old lady, enjoy your drink.

Apart from this I have heard or seen almost nothing on the BBC today that was not sycophantic. Have i been unlucky?
