I'm a really big NIN fan, and a huge Reznor fan, his understanding of the music business and his being in front of the pack with regard to digital distribution really appeal to me (aside from his amazing talent for writing and performing), but his antics over the last 24 hours seem really out of character. He has come across as a real dick. I know for a fact that at least one of the people on stage after him will be gutted at the "whoever they are" comment, as he is a huge NIN fan.

I'm disappointed. I couldnt go to reading or leeds for the full weekend, but was seriously considering going for NIN. Glad I didnt now.

I'm sure TR will speak more openly on the subject, his communication with the fanbase is usually really good.

As many have already said, I too was seriously let down by yesterday's performance. Now the music was good but no Hurt really did upset me to be honest! Plus the "whoever the fuck they are" comment has shown him as a real twat when I kind of looked up to him before.

He was probably pissed off that he was in a sub headliner spot with 20-30 minutes of the set in daylight under a band he had never heard of. For someone who apparently knows the music industry pretty well, he clearly doesn't as he would know of Biffy as they are known in most countries.

But of course, Biffy's set made up for any resentment I had. They were truly wonderful and my highlight (SOAD close second) of the weekend. MON THE BIFF!!!

I think/hope how Trent reacted was just heat of the moment and I'm sure he'll feel bad about it at some point, but yeah he really threw his toys out of the pram and disappointed fans, Leeds ones at least.

That being said why is everyone so obsessed with Hurt? I can take or leave Trent's version to be honest.

Not a fan, and my opinion had shot up of them after the performance since, it was a good show. But now it's just dropped right back down.

Get over yourself Trent. R+L was a much bigger deal for Biffy than it was for NIN. I'm really glad they brought their arena set, they had the best stage show of the weekend for me. Just because he couldn't have a few screens he decries a hard working band. I'd understand his frustration if Eminem was on after him or even Green Day since it's in fashion to criticise them.

Amazing performance and stage show, but the setlist was disappointing. My ideal setlist for that slot would have been...

01. The Day The World Went Away

02. Head Like A Hole

03. March Of The Pigs

04. Survivalism

05. Wish

06. The Frail

07. The Wretched

08. Something I Can Never Have

09. Lights In The Sky

10. The Hand That Feeds

11. Closer

12. We're In This Together

13. Every Day Is Exactly The Same

14. A Warm Place

15. Hurt

Not read the last two pages, but I am pretty annoyed at Trent taking it out on Biffy with his "whoever the fuck they are", it's pretty disrespectful, there's a reason Biffy headlined above NIN, it's because they're more popular. They're my two favourite bands, but Trent's tweet sucked a bit :(

Either way, I thought they were both fucking amazing, glad I was at Leeds cause the Reading set is a bit sucky in comparison, bar Somewhat Damaged

No Hurt/Closer at either show though, dont take it out on us Trent

I've only read a bit of this but I'm gonna say they were absolutely incredible... strange to say but that set was almost like the perfect therapy session. Personally I loved how insanely heavy it all was. Was very much the no compromise NIN we've seen before with a lovely break in Me I'm Not. He has been a bit of an arse... especially with the biffy comment... but I guess he is a perfectionist and hated having to downgrade his show.

I can understand why Hurt isn't liked by all, but personally, it's one of my favourite songs ever, although it doesn't seem to have the same impact live now, as it did back when it was first released.

On a side note, I was looking through one of my friends from colleges tweets;

"Lumineers are fucking brilliant" followed by "NIN are absolute dog shit" :(

I don't want to stick up for him because he has acted like a bit of a twat. They accepted the sub slot knowing full well they'd be in the light for virtually all of the set, at Leeds, and for a lot of it, at Reading. And also knowing that Biffy would be given the priority over them, cause they're headlining.

But it must feel shit not being able to put on a show that you'd worked on really hard to put together and all that.

Maybe if he spent more time on nin instead of putting it on indefinite hiatus all the time, people might have cared more. As it is, they're lucky to be booked as subs given that they've drawn an appalling crowd twice now. Of course I'm sure he's already cashed the cheque before acting like a petulant child.

not going to lie for saying something like that he comes across as a twat, and clearly has an ego the size of the sun. sure they make good music but he really needs to be brought down a peg or two where its obvious that they don't have the pulling power
