The crowd was absolutely tiny. I was in the crowd then left to get a drink and the crowd barely went as far out as the screens, though more people were still arriving at that point. Was probably the smallest crowd I can remember at the mainstage.

Do you think? I really didn't think it was that small a crowd but I had a few beers by that point so could have been a bit fuzzy by then, usually have few pictures to check but didn't seem to take many at this point.....

Considering how much work went into the production, you can see why Trent would be pissed off if he found out last minute he couldn't do thw whole show, regardless of who was at fault

I think people would have been 100 times more supportive of Trent had he not insulted Biffy. It was a REALLY stupid comment about a band lots of R+L goers love and I would suspect lots of NIN fans also like.

The biffy lads seem like really nice guys and there is no way they had anything to do with it, change over between sets and how much 'stuff' you can bring is all set out by the organisers

Did the same happen at Leeds on friday? Does leeds have a bigger stage perhaps?

Just feels strange they played the same show (subbing biffy at a festival) 48 hours previously but none of this came out, was it all due to Reading being filmed?

Does look good but what we got was more than enough. At the end of the day it's about the music, not fancy gimmicks. RATM put on one of the best shows I've ever seen with nothing more than a flag with a red star on to look at!

But it translated into the music too. Watching the Reading set, Trent looked like he couldn't give a fuck about being there, and didn't say anything throughout it. They also got a rubbish setlist for a festival and everyone looked bored for the first half.

I was at Leeds, however, and loved it, but it did seem worse than most NIN sets I've watched.

He must have known he was never going to get proper darkness at Leeds though, and that Biffy would get production priority at both sites, he should have just thought in advance to ditch it for that set, and also probably Reading's.

See that's probably why Trent's meltdown was so colossal, he had these ideas, but then Festival republic/Melvin assured him that the band could have their entire stage show for both shows without it being a major issue. Then the festivals came around and Festival republic told him that actually he wasn't able to deliver the full stage show, resulting in the hissy fit. Doesn't justify his childish and ignorant hit at Biffy though.

I can imagine he was told something along the lines of being allowed his full stage show if its possible, with biffys setup having priority, but it would probably be fine. So trent believed he'd get the whole show but in the end it wasnt possible. Fair reason to be annoyed but hes been around long enough to act professional and not just blame everyone else when things dont go according to plan.

I think if Trent didn't get his production and walked out and saw a huge adoring crowd it would've been a lot different.

To be honest, I dislike Trent quite a bit right now. In the future, this may (probably will) change but in the end, I care a lot about the music and my viewpoint on him won't change that.
