I'm agreeing with a few, I reckon The Pumpkins will get a headliner length set (hour and a half?) So that when The XX come on it is complete darkness so that they can do their thing that I still don't understand why is so popular.

The XX against Mumford & Sons will split the crowds, the Smashing Pumpkins wouldn't, that simple. They'll get a long set anyway & probably be a hard act for the XX to follow.

Nah, the XX & Mumford & Sons will have a much wider cross over fan base from the exposure they get on Radio 1, NME etc... where as the Smashing Pumpkins aren't in their prime, have little radio exposure & would not split the crowd as much. It's fairly easy to see why Eavis has placed them where he has.

Was just looking at their site too.

Says they're in Spain on the 28th and Glasto is just listed as "28th-30th".

I'm stubbornly keeping my fingers crossed.

As for headlining the tent; I suppose it's possible and I really hope they do or they get the longer set, but I'm not gonna fool myself. The xx are the bigger draw. The thing about the policy them getting switched closer to the festival is bogus anyway - they're not headlining Hurricane/Southside, nor will they be.

I had thought that them being announced for Glasto would void the temptation to get Wembley Arena tickets but now I want them even more than before.

I genuinely believe that the only reason The xx are above Smashing Pumpkins is because of the whole 'The xx can only play in darkness' thing.

In my eyes, Smashing Pumpkins are definitely the bigger draw. Just because they don't get as much radio play, doesn't mean they wouldn't be able to attract a large crowd. That's like saying if One Direction/Katy Perry/Bruno Mars etc played they'd get the largest crowds? Don't think so. Also, I've not exactly noticed many people jumping with excitement by their announcement - has there been a 20 page thread on here about The xx (like this one)... again, don't think so.

I guess it'll probably (or at least should) be seen as a joint headline slot, The xx playing after, but perhaps The Smashing Pumpkins getting an equal/longer set. Though, that's just my opinion.
