Atmosphere was seriously bad in August. Most of the people there were there for the Olympics and when they stopped showing the closing ceremony footage on the main screens i'm pretty sure i heard a majority of the crowd boo. (and this is the point the headline act of the day were walking on to stage). The Majority of the people there sang more god save the queens than blur songs

that reply is a disgrace, the thing with hyde park is, nothing will ever be done, unless everyone complained.. it's a miracle how events still occur there to be honest, i've been there every year since 2009, but i dont think i would go again due to the fact the sound just seems to get worse, as does the crowd.

blur 2009 remains as one of my best gigs ever, as does jay z in 2010, but arcade fire 2011 and blur 2012 will ruin that memory

While the sound was poor, i thought the facilities for Blur were in general worse than that...the bars (I don't mind the actual queue so much but at least organise it well) , toilets (FECKING QUEUE FOR THE MENS?! Just get a giant troth and be done with it!)...the area they hire out isn't/wasn't big enough on this occasion with all the extras around the sides. I am going presume most of the blur issues were simply because of it was set for the london live thing rather than as actual gig (never been before so it's presumption :P)

I agree the picnic blanket brigade were out in full force but I had a great time. Thought Blur were amazing! My mate who could probably produce a list of complaints after having a threesome with Emma watson and Beyonce thought it was great too.

Probably wont go to Reading next year, outgrowing the undercard but if blur and a handful of other bands peak my interest might buy a cheap ticket last minute

Then why use it as a gig venue? Them saying 'well that's as good as it's going to get, so don't complain' is pretty shoddy in my eyes, if you're paying to go and see someone perform, the least you would expect is to be able to hear them properly.

That really was a great gig & pretty loud too. I did think earlier in the day even for acts in the tents the sound was very bass heavy (fair enough I was there watching Blame & Devlin) but pretty quiet.

I'm sure that most people that go to gigs in Hyde Park wouldn't have noticed sound issues (prove me wrong here) but regular festival & outdoor gig goers would have a problem with the quality.

True, but both of those were considerably more heavily exposed in this country before they played R&L. I just find the idea of Blur playing R&L as an English exclusive next year (as I assume if that happened they'd play T too) and it not selling out weird.

But foos and muse have alot more fans than blur. Blur were on the wane when they split originally, they have done the coneback will they sell the same level next summer? Will blur fans pay 200+ to see blur? They are a big pull for my age group but fir the 16-21 age group, im unsure.

    • Someone said something along the lines of "the lows were really low but they highs were really high" and I think that sentence sums up my ps experience this year. Thursday was a downer (even though I got to see men I trust, geese, oklou and fcukers), but the weather, the missed shows and the uncertainty (those comms...) made it a bad day. Friday and Saturday on the other hand where rly good, a bunch of amazing shows each day (The Cure one was quite something), that surprise on Saturday...   Will be back next year, hope they get another impressive lineup as this year (quality and quantity wise) and that tickets and  primarily hotels don't get much more expensive.
    • Rosalia Radiohead NIN MGMT Bjork David Byrne   Also Vince Staples' new album is cool. I could see him returning.
    • If we are guessing then I think it's   Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls   Weezer   The All-American Rejects
    • Everyone who was there has said how amazing it was so makes the excitement grow even more.  The XX and actually Kneecap were both very good too.     Roll on 3 weeks time
    • Fallow year merch not for me... I'm not interested in celebrating this occasion - in fact I think it's stupid 🙂    Covid wiped out 2020 and 2021 so we should have another year or two before the fallow, in my opinion.  Probably a bit late to change their minds now though!
