It was interesting watching how England never really pressurised the Ukraines when they had the ball. Now this resulted in them having lot's of possesion and under no pressure resulting in them being able to move the ball around. Engalsn however were under pressure every time they had the ball resulting in forced errors and long balls.

Bearing in mind England have blamed being "tired" at previous championships, is Woy actually telling them not chase the ball when the oppostion have it to conserve energy?

I think Roys greatest achievement so far is getting away with lowerinng expectation to such a low level. England are top 10 in the FIFA world rankings, have probably only lost a handful of games in the last 4 years while winning the vast majoirty. Yet is seems expectation levels are being set as if England have a record like Czech Republic or Croatia. Picking Arry would have been mad, only 2 years ago he said man for man England had the best team in world football and I suspect he would have come out with similar ridiculous statements.

Well being from Scotland it's my dream just to see us get out the group stage of a World Cup after many attemtps over the years. In fact the dream may just end up seeing us qualify for a major championship....

I will never forget the hope I had when David Narey scored agaionst Brazil in the 1982 World Cup when I was 9. It only served to make them angry and Socretes and Zico took us apart. It's been dissapointment ever since......

For me last night just goes to show that bringing in goal line technology and nothing else would be a farce. The goal would have been wrongly given, as we would all have seen a few seconds later that it was offside.

For me you should leave it as it is. You can never get every single decision right. If we bring in goal line tech, then next people will want video evidence for penalty decisions. Then corner decisions. Then throw in decisions. Any number of tiny incidents can change the course of a game, and lead to a goal.

Let the refs do the best they can. Personally I find the controversy part of the excitement anyway

We need to take as much pressure as possible off the officials too. They shouldn't be dealing with this. Difficult to tell, even last night, if its fully over the line. Players everywhere, 60,000 fans screaming, ball moving fast, no replay etc.

    • Oh yeah I'd forgotten about their mad scramble to get back from LA to Glastonbury. Though at least there you can blame multiple flight cancellations. I do agree though that it's fair to ask why you'd risk a similar sh*t show.
    • So who's got a good rain dance in the locker, then? Now we're in August the weather watchers can come out of hiding.    Already having flashbacks to last year (the dust cloud of doom at the crossroads by the Courtyard entrance).   Also got to be looking sketchy for the fire/fireworks on the Sunday. Might be a controversial opinion but wouldn't mind it - the fencing annoyance isn't worth the 10 mins of 'oooohhh, aaahhhh', plus the raining of hot embers last year!
