Justiceforcedave
Just how shit have the sales been then? Max capacity is 60k(?) and they've done well enough when around 40k went before so considering there is still 3 months to it was meant to happen I could imagine they've sold as little as 15k tixs. biffoire
if it wasn't true. I'm sure the organisers will have jumped in by now.

smogo
Suddenly this makes a lot more sense, from the Chortle.co.uk forums on Monday: Bethany: Is there a comedy tent at Sonisphere? ... and if so who books it? Keith Platt: I posted the same question three weeks ago and I'm still awaiting a reply spikymike: I just spoke to my contact at Sonisphere and they are currently not planning any comedy unfortunately this year. That struck me as odd at the time, given how strong (if small) their comedy lineup usually is. Edited March 28, 2012 by smogo

lightning1000
Oh dear, just under 5k sold. Neil can you confirm this please?
zahidf
Neil won't confirm anything. It's not his festival to cancel, and if he says something, it gets reported as cancelled and it goes ahead, guess who'd be sued?

jump
So what's happening now then? I can see Queen with Adam Lambert playing as an outdoor gig with Evanescence & Darkness supporting, KISS will probably just cancel and wait to tour Europe properly and Faith No More may decide to not come over at all. With bands lower down the bill I can see Mastadon and Wolfmother popping up at either Download or R&L but I can't imagine Manson or Incubus playing there now so possible UK shows of their own. thejimbola
One day show headlined by Kiss, supported by AmeriQueen Idol and a few of the supporting cast that are more commercially successful to ensure ticket sales over credibility! jump
I reckon there is a chance it could go like that if it gets cancelled, would be interested to see where FNM end up. But everyone should remain calm until we hear more tomorrow.

she bangs the drums
Apparently metal fans aren’t into Adam Lambert as much as the organisers thought… who’da known?

eFestivals
Also http://www.thrashhit...led/#more-30080 Not looking good. That's very bad form of them, no matter how good they believe their info to be. It's not their place to help destroy the viability of what still might be a viable event. GuitarManDan15
No matter what happens tomorrow, neil and others have been saying for a while its difficult for one dedicated metal festival to viable let alone two, even if soni does survive this year i wouldnt expect to see it next year. Guessing its a combination of poor sales for every festival and the fact this year is not quite up to last years. Went to my first soni last year, thought it was a great festival, line up is not for me this year but it'll be a shame to see it go if this all turns out to be true
luckysalt
Surely Download cud nab the acts who are in Europe at the time. Its a shame for soni, 4k tix though. Wow.
jump
Within Tempation, Evanescence, Lacuna Coil popping up somewhere and then Skindred, Hundred Reasons and Andrew WK would be a bonus.

gazza_20
I can't see big acts like Evanescene just being added to the bill at other fests as there's no slots left for them and I can't imagine Queen with Adam Lambert not going ahead in some form and if Kili are going to arrange it still they will probably use the acts on the bill as support to save them a few quid that they would otherwise lose with the bands deposits. I also wouldn't rule out them adding more supports acts to Red Hot Chili Peppers from Soni in a slim hope to boost their sales. It must be a costly year for Kili. she bangs the drums
Surely an event will still go ahead i.e. Queen with Adam Lambert and maybe a few other bands will play at Knebworth but just not as Sonisphere Festival? I cannot see that is cancelled altogether.

gary1979666
Maybe it's just a ploy to get people talking about the fest - haven't seen this forum as busy since the first announcement!
