brandycoke
My end of poll announcement on facebook kind of sums things up for me The polls have closed. This campaign has been for me an exhilarating time. But the campaign is over. I have removed my twibbon. unpinned my yes badge. unpeeled the yes sticker from my window. And in the morning I will remove the thing that says "I voted yes" not because I believe with any less passion than I did 5 minutes ago that Scotland should be independent, but because I am now back to being someone who lives in Scotland. However the result goes, I believe we should work together for a better Scotland. Many honest folk in the no campaign have made it clear that they too want change. Let's forget the yes & no & let's unite and try & make our astonishing wee country a better place. Well said LJS.
russycarps
Well that was a fucking great anti-climax. President of YouGov says '99% chance of no victory'. No idea how he can make those sorts of comments at the moment, but I doubt he'd make himself look a huge idiot on national TV. Or would he? how the hell does he make a call like that? how has a no vote seemingly been so certain this past week? I still think yes will win, based on nothing at all.... I still think yes will win, based on nothing at all.... I had thought the game was up when I heard this but....... it is based on a sample of only 3000 I think ? Somebody could maybe confirm this as my nerves are shot and I`ve probably had too much to drink.

I still think yes will win, based on nothing at all.... No idea, but the aforementioned 3000 sample makes it seem less valid. Shit would seriously go down if 'yes' did win, but my thoughts are along the same lines as you. Possibly because the yes vote has had much more support online, and when I went up to Scotland last month there was many more Yes campaigners around, didn't see a single No campaigner in Edinburgh, Glasgow or any of the surrounding areas. The old 'uns may well clinch it for No, but then if the turnout for the 16-17 year olds is high then I wouldn't underestimate their influence. ThomThomDrum
Just read this YouGov bases prediction on responses of 1,828 people after they voted today, together with those of 800 people who had already voted by post

If that's the case, the YouGov president must be fecking confident to have made an assertion like he did earlier.
metallimuse
BBC reporting that one of the staunch Labour areas seem to be saying they have gone against the party and voted yes.Didn't quite catch which constituency though. kaosmark2
As a European, A Brit, and an Englishman... I am scared we are all about to take a massive step backwards... We should be moving together instead of moving apart... Hoping I don't wake up to a broken and divided nation... It would be a huge mistake... I hope the "little" Scotlanders don't have their way... Night all... Well said Barry.

GlastoSimon
If the Scots don't vote for independence now, I don't think they ever will. Not in our lives, anyway.
Comfy Bean
how soon is soon? I`m only guessing mate but 15 years makes sense. Think we would all need a rest for say a decade and then I suppose you would need to have an SNP majority up here to get it on. I take Barry`s point that it`s not ideal but when we get shafted over the powers ( you know I don`t agree with that last minute offer ) there will be major unrest....not just in Scotland. In short - lets just get it done tonight !
