Rolf Harris

Completely agree. It was a lovely, touching interview and reminded me what was so good about him in 2010. Piers Morgan might be a w*nker but he's amazingly good at getting people to open up - did the same with James Corden last week.

Am I the only person who thinks he is utter shit and that his glastonbury performances are unfunny cringeworthy self-indulgent tuneless toss?

Never again please.

And yes, I am of an age where I grew up with his art show. It was ace

Just watched the Piers Morgan interview and have a huge amount of respect for Rolf.

Not necessarily sure he needs to come back but he is ace. Kinda feel that 2009, followed by his 2010 place was a good place to leave it. On a massive high.

Totally with you. All it's succeeded in doing is getting the Glasto haters and know-nothings to say, "isn't Rolf playing again this year ... huhuhuhuhuh ... lame"

I understand that if he was at your local church fete you might go see him, but Glastonbury? The worlds leading performing arts festival. At that time in the morning the world is your oyster, but thousands go see this strange little man make some painfully unfunny jokes and do a cover of Stairway by burping into a mic. I would have thought getting some kip or curling one out would be much more productive things to be doing.

thing is though, he gets undeniably massive crowds. And not the sort of massive crowd jessie j gets. Of proper people with sensible music tastes.

What the hell is going on?? I used to think people were forcing themselves to enjoy it. That people say they love him as it is just the done thing to do. But I'm really not so sure. Two massive crowds in a row wasnt it?

I'm sorry to say Ed, I don't know how or why, but I fear WE are the ones in the wrong here.

Truly one of life's mysteries.

Rolf at Glastonbury becomes more than the sum of its parts, imo. you can see the guy play up and down the land throughout the year, in all sorts of venues (but often universities) if you like.

only at Glastonbury will tens upon tens of thousands of people turn up and get involved. it's a spectacle. it's corny. you probably wouldn't do it anywhere else. all things that fit the modern Glastonbury Festival ethos perfectly.

He also played to a full field at Glastonbury back in the 90's. I can't pinpoint the year due to failing memory. The cameras picked up one woman embracing a Rolfe Harris manual which must have been from the 70's. The camera then switched to a young lady with a banner saying 'Tie me down Rolfe'.

It was a glorious sunny Sunday morning and for one brief period of time during his performance, things, the world etc felt really good and a nice place to be. Plus the song Two Little Boys is a belter ( however I freely admit that my musical knowledge and tastes is somewhat limited). It's harmless corny fun really I guess.

I willingly went to see him at Jazzworld but then got dragged to see him on the pyramid the next year and as I predicted, it was exactly the same!

The highlight of both years was probably the girl i saw at the jazzworld carrying a sign that said 'I'd didgeri-do you, Rolf' :D

Some people are getting way too worked up about this. It was a couple of hours out of a whole weekend at Glastonbury to see something light-hearted and fun that 99% of the crowd probably wouldn't bother to go and see outside Glastonbury or even listen to at home. Seeing stuff like Rolf that doesn't necessarily make sense in the outside world is very Glastonbury IMHO. It isn't like a Jessie J or Florence or other similar toss that's all over Radio and TV and annoying all year round, it was a bit of fun at a place where enjoying yourself is the goal.

(shrugs) Don't see the issue

    • Was volunteering at the Women’s Cricket World Cup at Southampton yesterday. Was great fun.
    • Definitely see this as being 'weak' on paper but could see a few bumps up from previous sets at Download (Don Broco, Neck Deep etc).
    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
