Bestival 2012

Excellent line up announced this morning! Was a bit worried about buying tickets before the line up was released but I'm glad I did and it's sorted. Sigur Ros is a fantastic booking, seriously can't wait for them. Will surely be the highlight of the festival for me. Hoping they don't clash with Spiritualized tho. Those 2 are probably the 2 I'm most looking forward to atm. The Horrors, Justice, The XX, Annie Mac, Warpaint, Gallows. Some acts I'm really looking forward to catching as well.

Especially happy that Hot Chip look to be playing Thursday as well. Haven't been able to catch them yet so to have them before the 3 main days is perfect.

And I must be the only person on this forum, or the Bestival forum, who actually wants Florence to headline! I'd pretty happy if she gets announced next week tbh. Pulp would probably be the best most realistic headliner available for me though.

If the idea behind Bestival is never to repeat the same headliners then I can't see it being The Chemical Brothers. It is a pre-dominately dance festival, and it has a record of having dance music headliners so take a wild guess with that one and take your pick of who's around and who's big enough to headline. Probably not Daft Punk.

I could see New Order headlining Saturday - seems logical.

Sunday/Third headliner I'm struggling with. I mean, Sigur Ros could easily headline - niche, yes, but they'd pull it off no problem. The question is, who could follow them? My guess is Radiohead, and if not Radiohead then somebody bigger than both them and Sigur Ros combined.

If it's Florence + The Machine... be a bit of a letdown really. Pulp? They'd be great but would they be truly extraordinary? Beastie Boys? They've headlined before.

    • Tell me more. Last Latitude we went to was '21 - my son was young & had a wagon so we snuck good beers in that way. I remember there being some Brooklyn IPA on sale which was tolerable - are you saying they don't sell anything other than Carlsberg now?! 😳
    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
