I don't think we would get Kasbian thrown in with the now inevitable Radiohead/Stone Roses headliners now, 3 white boy indie bands?! heaven forbid!! tongue.png (not these days) Chuck GaGa in or maybe take out radiohead altought I read today they are planning to tour next year to, so that would stretch to glasto.

Dreams of Pulp and arcade fire getting another headline slot are dying by the second.

Oh hum, hopefully west hotls /other stage will provide brilliant alternatives again.!! (More west holts i think. As other stage could turn to pop against the pyramid indie as things stand:P)

So this is my betting:

Pyramid

Friday: GaGa/Dizzie Rascal

Saturday: Stone Roses

Sunday: Radiohead

Other

Friday: Arcade Fire

Saturday: Florence and the Machine

Sunday: Some sort of big dance act

The other thing is ...

Given this will be a year after the reunion, won't the buzz have died down to the point that this won't impress people as a headliner. Everybody who will have wanted to see them would have done so already in 2012 and by the time 2013 rolls around then this will all just be old news and just another reformed act living off past glories - which basically is just one excellent album, and one mediocre album. It won't be special anymore.

Unless of course they become an active band and start releasing new material, in which case things will be different. But while they say they are going to do this, I'll have to see it to believe it.

Radiohead are the 1st band up on the Glasto rumors page and more than likely with a new album, will finish it off there.

The Roses, you put two and two, efestivals believe there is a high chance and it'd be huge for them to do that.

Kasabian have been approached and R&L have been very reluctant in the past to give them the slot others will. Not since o5's NME headline slot have they played.

My apologies, I meant Phoenix. Correct me if i'm wrong, there's no links as of yet to Phoenix with regards to Radiohead? Considering they've said they're arena touring UK & US Feb-Nov, I'd say it's looking pretty unlikely for them to be at Phoenix.

With regards to Roses, again, there's no links to Glasto, other than Eavis saying she was looking forward to it?

Kasabian, no links to Glasto, pretty sure Eavis would tell them where to get off with regards to headlining. Remember they were a stand in in '09, I doubt they would have got that slot anyway. Has there been any links to Phoenix? I know I read someone the other day saying they believed Kasabian had been approached for Phoenix but i've only seen that.

Ignoring all that, and taking the recent discussions on here about the synchronising of bookings between FR/Glasto and others, do you really think Glasto would think "I Know, for our big comeback year, let's book exactly the same headliners as a fest had last year"?

The Arctic monkeys have really reinvented themselves over the last 2 albums, this seems to have lost the 'Football Crowd' fans that followed them after their first 2 albums, not a bad thing. I think Florence & the machine must be an outside shot. I've seen her be brilliant (09 Glasto) but also be awful (2010 Glasto). The new album is very good and getting very good reviews. The problem she has live is that when presented with a large crowd she tries to belt out the songs and a lot of the notes sound as Neil said very like screenching. When reeled in and her voice a bit more low key and controlled she is very good live.

Agree with this, i think in some ways they been kind of brave to not just become the next Oasis. I didn't care for the 3rd one but can see why they put it out and about half the 2nd was bit meh. But the 3rd is growing on me. They still seem bit boring live from TV though :S

I really enjoyed their set at T in the Park this year. 2nd and 3rd albums were a bit hit and miss for me but I'm quite impressed by their new one. Glad they didn't try and just recreate the first album over and over. Could easily have become the next Oasis like you said, but very glad they didn't.

    • They are going to have Blink 182 for sure, early June upto around Werchter weekend I'd say for them. Two of Sweden Rock,  Greenfield and RFP are going to miss out.
    • I've come across a few this weekend saying Deftones aren't big enough for Download.   I would recommend b&b hotel hbf the night before....cheap, comfortable and very decent. Within 10 minutes from the station and a tram stop outside to jump on...all travel is free during the festival time as well with a kombi. Lidl is very good and cheap I can't lie....€6 for a chair with carey handle, €20 with a bag too...you can work that out yourself.   If you camp, get up at 5am and go to the queue....literally don't question it as now I know.     The travel wise part is easy when you get the hang of it and I've never had an easier exit from a festival today tbh. We were camped in the turn left section but past the registration and to get water you have to come right out.   Opening up an exit through he camp at least by Friday morning when everyobe is there would be much better but you csnt walk through general if you're green and sonon.   I think the issue for me probably too is I have never taken like a mutliple litre water too, I've always done a 6 pack water from like poundland lol but you definitely need it. I had one shower that was cold lol   Talking of getting into the front, Volbeat was the only easy one, for Maiden and especially Linkin Park if you weren't in the queue for it by at least the last quarter ot Architects you had no hope....it was shocking. I do like orbit to sit down. I had to decide to sack off Within Temptation too or no chance.   Second stage biggest gripe is the faff of walking all the way round when VIP or whatever it is literally get access to each bit. I did read tbh before going people though RIP/Ring was turning too much the wrong way.   Also as a side note, caught some of Limp Bizkit last night too and they are not headliner but any distance at all. Yes they pull a crowd...they would do with LP finished but on the grand scale its a super weak booking. Stop, start for video recordings all the way through a headline set?, 1hr 15 minutes and you can't play for that time. I'm so glad they were not chosen to headline main.   On another thing, if RIP played it right they'll get GC and Avril to sub/second stage headline on the Blink day.   Toilets and cleanliness is a big plus I will say that.
    • Any of the likes of Keo, Basht. and Cardinals could all fit in here.  Although they’re the sort of bands that could fit many of the stages at Glastonbury
    • Glasto loves a come back act - how about the Rapture?
    • Yeah mentioned in the park thread but feel more Woodsies to me
