kanye naysayers need to listen to this

yes a lot of his recent output has been dogshit but the man has put out some real quality in the past, and certainly proved his chops as a producer in his earlier days (worked with nas, talib kweli, mobb deep and common among others).

and to whoever was calling him a fad, he's been one of the most popular hip hop artists around for almost ten years, i'd say that's longevity enough in a genre that's had its fair share of flash in the pans.

Neil is awaiting information right now whether to add him.

Neil has just got information saying it could be a possibility. Not enough for an R.

that's just about how it is, yup.

The name was chucked my way. But it was in too casual a way to make much of it right now but it's interesting enough to try and check it out a bit further.

I can't find any quote from Neil regarding Wham anywhere - am I not getting a far too hilarious joke?

Also, are you still expecting to have something of substance to inform us tonight, Neil, or is that now not the case or indeed was it never the case?!! Servers going down for two hours but including my lunch-break means I feel remarkably out of the loop!

Have those slating Kanye's latest actually heard Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy? Pretty much lauded my critics as being his best work (opinions I know, but just shows it's generally considered a very good album). He does have a habit of doing 10 minute auto-tune solo's live though, which at WTT was used as an excuse by many to grab a beer or take a slash.

So basically, great rapper, massive ego, questionable live show. Bit of a risk if booked as a headliner, I would probably watch though

I hope he doesn't play personally, I'd be tempted to see if he can pull it out of the bag and end up inevitably being disappointed when he makes a giant tit of himself.

Edit - I've just seen the setlist from his weekend gigs. He's got some tunes mind.

someone has mailed us and said wham are reforming for glastonbury. You never know, it might even be true.

And no, I'm not expecting to hear anything much more this evening. As for times I was and didn't, I can't force people to send me stuff when they say they'll send it, and I can't force them at all. It either happens or it doesn't.

Servers didn't actually go down; the data centre where they're hosted had major issues. The main efests server has been up for 173 days, for example. :)

    • TOP 10 acts (top 5 in bold😞   Blood Orange (ciutat)   Guitarricadelafuente   Oklou - Looks like I'm capable of enjoying music in the rain after all, just not the whole night.   Rilo Kiley   The Cure   Jade   Depresión Sonora   Gelli Haha (Parc del Forum) - Her music never really clicked with me. Until I saw her live.   MARINA   Six Sex (ciutat) - I was shocked how supersmall the venue was and that almost everyone (except for me) knew every word of every song (including the ones that were released this weekend!).   Honorable mention:   Ashnikko - missed the first 15 minutes (because of Gelli Haha) and I'm not really a fan of her music, but the show was an absolute blast.
    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
    • Similar feelings to a few others on here. Not my personal favourite edition but a long way from giving up on it. Felt overcrowded at times and there are just too many people there that don't seem to like music that much! Hardly went to main stages which was the plan. Highlights Ralphie Choo, rusowsky, Gorillaz, Geese, Gelli Haha, The Sophs, PinkPantheress, Dijon. Accommodation booked for next year. Thanks for your company and comments over the past year.
