No I read most people's comments longer than the 2 lines, just some lose my interest very quickly!!

You corrected me? Really. Worrying!!

And if you don't know what talking in the 3rd person is!! Very worrying. Enjoy talking between the 2 of yourself!!!

Anyway:

Dizzee

NGHFB

Arctics

Pink

Rolling Stones

Chase and Status

There's a lot of talk about headliners who are currently touring. Does the act always have to be touring to headline?

Maybe someone with a little more knowledge about past headliner history could advise if this has happened or not.

Would be great to get someone that nobody has suggested.

I can't believe we are still completely in the dark over possible headliners, it looks like most people think Rolling Stones are more or less going to be there but aside from that it seems like we're taking shots in the dark. I'm not going to frequent this thread again until we have some real information! :P

I'm not 100% the stones are nailed on. I guess it's under negotiation, but they may be temped by the corporate-fest. Perhaps hard rock calling, Olympic stadium etc which will bring them the readies and the publicity. All while the rumour mill turns, it keeps them in the spotlight

I'm not a Stones expert but based on what I do know about their normal behaviour, and my mate who is a big fan of both the Stones and Glastonbury laughing every time it gets mentioned, I'm not confident they'll do it either. There may be some serious brain-storming of names going on at Worthy Farm in the next few days

Her name has probably been mentioned earlier in this thread, but how about Kylie Minogue? She's had a recent album with another rumoured for this year. Not touring apparently but was due to play a few years ago (2005) so is due a second chance. Ideal for Sunday headline.

no one can get right what hasn't been booked.

In the words of someone who knows only last week "... they've not booked anyone".

Those words are a bit of an over-statement (cos at least one headliner is booked), but things haven't progressed as much as some people are thinking.

    • Doesn't surprise me. West Yorkshire had a vote if they wanted a mayor in 2012 and voted no. The government then ignored the vote and announced the position anyway in 2016.

    • Also agree, it does feel that there isn’t much between the Mercury Prize and the Brit Awards these days.   This part sums it up for me “The complaint isn’t so much about the quality of the music, but more the disappearance of spaces for outsider voices in British music. With streaming algorithms feeling increasingly geared towards big names, and social media acting as a minefield, the Mercury’s pivot to the mainstream closes another door in the face of creative independence.”
