I don't think you're hearing rumours, you're just latching onto a particular set of words that suit you - or those that are telling you are very likely to be doing just that.

There might be something to what you're hearing and going with, but it's far more likely it's nothing more than some people have taken up something of the few bits and pieces out there with more gusto than it deserves - even if what they're thinking ends up being the case.

For example, every year I get to hear what the Pilton local gossip is for who will be headlining or appearing - and yet their accuracy is nothing better than anything from any other place, which gets to show how often the "I'm connected with someone who knows" claims don't generally have something solid behind them.

Yep, that's what rumours are - but what they're not always is something of substance.

There's some substance around the stones because Eavis has talked about trying to get them. But it's also the case that he's tried to get them before and failed, so there's not necessarily going to be any change this time around - and according to the stones twitter, there won't be any change this time.

It's not a big step for that story to change as it goes around various people from "trying to get them" to "got them". That might sound unlikely, but when I've seen various stories changed within the music or general press (who should know better) over the years as a story gets repeated and goes around, then it'll change far easier via word-of-mouth because the words that were said can't be checked back on as they can when in print.

None of that is saying that Eavis hasn't got the stones - but it's far more likely that anything you might hear is baseless than it having a solid source of information behind it, particularly when it comes to the stones. They're notoriously difficult to get any accurate info about, and the number of people within the festival that might know anything will be very small this far away from the fest.

Just saying. You know. Would be great and all. You know. Cough. Never going to happen but how about Soundgarden open at 9 then about 10:30 PJ take over, then do some Temple of the Dog action to finish the whole thing off.

I'd rather that sort of multi-platinum grunge nonsense was kept at Download and/or Reading personally. Plus, Soundgarden were dull as dish water at Download this year.

Love to see Numan again. A true hero of mine. Saw him at Bestival along with another of my childhood heroes, John Foxx) last week and it was immense, a great Thursday night. He still has it for me, I even liked some of the darker, heavier stuff. Love him to play some Replicas and pleasure principle stuff again.

Needs to be in a tent though in my opinion. Jp would be ideal

The later part of Muse's career just makes me think of the last few queen albums.

At least the track above features some evidence of the rest of the band, rather than just being the work of a producer with a bit of chopped up guitar and vocal. This has some real drums, real bass chopped up by the producer as well

I agree Muse can put on a good show, they know how to do musical grandeur and are masters of their art. I just find that with each album there is more stuff like the above and less like what I used to like about Muse (great songs, interesting lyrics, guitar bass and drums all played well) and more and more over-produced cod-opera stuff.

Sorry to any muse fans who enjoy the current stuff. No right and wrong in taste and all that, I've just gone off muse (who are still good live)

Always thought Muse have been going down hill since Absolution, and those new tracks certainly seem to be on that trajectory. AKA, they're dire.

Wish I'd seen them back in the day, but not really interested any more. Unless they do some sort of "We're playing the first few albums only!" kind of thing, then I MIGHT be tempted to brave the Twilight fans and check them out.
