Everyone is raving about their recent performances, which I find odd as they used to be absolutely dire live (lifeless, flat, going through the motions and Barney couldn't carry a tune in a bucket).

I think they are borderline big enough for OS headliner, but I think it would be a poor choice when there are only 3 slots per year to fill.

Just to be clear, I'm a fan, I loved their music for years, but saw them in '90 and they blew, have seen them on broadcasted performances and they weren't any better. If they are good now then great.

I'm pretty sure that was speculation as people thought that Prince was originally meant to headline with Beyonce subbing? But I haven't heard anything concrete about it.

Eavis has said that he thought he'd got Prince. I'd had info that Beyonce was subbing Coldplay. It's not hard to know it's not merely speculation.

Maybe Primal Scream, but Chems, QOTSA, Flaming Lips, Pet Shop Boys?

I'd place them around Groove Armada/Streets level (I'm a fan btw, and I'd love for them to play, I just think they'd be a weak Other headliner). Their history is obviously monumental, but i'm still not sure...

I'm gonna keep what I'm thinking to myself just at the moment, because it involves some info which isn't 'out there' as yet, and anyway is an assumption off the back of that into something else, which leads to something else, etc, etc, etc.

But like I say, it's good to get something properly interesting to work from, even if the likelihood is that it'll lead nowhere rather than somewhere.

I read Barney say a few months back that they preferred to play indoors now. From when I saw them mid-90s they were definitely better when his voice didn't have to travel across a field.

They headlined King Tuts at TITP this year (it was around this time I read the interview actually) so JPT may be the best slot for them. Plus, selfishly, they'd be great in there.
