Emily Eavis interview in NME

You’re right yeah, they’re both big industry tour monsters, would be too expensive for them to get the ball rolling for one gig only. It must take ages for them to get Beyonces arse into her pants. So not worth the effort for 90 minutes.

Gotta assume Beyonce won't headline ... that would be an awful headliner. Second to Coldplay should do her fine. They could pitch as "you'll be playing 1 slot above Shakira did", who in the UK she's a bit bigger than .. but not massively.

U2 / Coldplay / Pulp.

Not massively impressed with regards to the current favourite headliners, from a personal perspective.

could be a coincidence with Emily Eavis saying they've just confirmed the 3rd headliner and The Rolling Stones announcing this on their Facebook page today.....

" Lot's of exciting stuff happening this year..... just popping in to say thanks to our 4 million or so Facebook friends - it's great having you along for the ride...."

think about it it has to be the stones, U2 and colplay are most definitely nailed on, and if it is prince instead of the stones then it is gonna be a real let down considering ME giving it all this '3 biggest bands in the world'. it just makes sense!!!

I said months ago that a clued in chap told me among industry types the Stones/Glasto story was actually passé. Faites accomplis.

If they announce a show in the Phoenix park in Dublin this source will have proved to be correct.

I'm letting myself get excited too. Must be said that any set of headliners that included U2 and The Rolling Stones really would be amongst the all-time huge line-ups (though, obviously, not to everyone's taste).

When you consider that Arctic Monkeys, Basement Jaxx, The Verve and Gorillaz have all been headliners in the last few years (two of those as replacements, in all fairness) it really does show a step-up in efforts. Personally I think getting Springsteen to do it in 2009 has a lot to do with this.

    • Maybe hopeful but get Knocked Loose on the Sunday opposite the legend. Similar to the slot Turnstile had in 2022. Would be absolutely phenomenal.
    • One of my personal favourite bands at the minute - MUNA. Was very surprised not to see them booked in 2023 with their last album but hopefully they'll be around next year. Very fun new album from these guys and, as aforementioned, another standout for me at Big Weekend.
    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
