'3 biggest bands' claim by Eavis

Talk of Coldplay being booked and ready to fill in for Stones who are hard to nail down early on and then Coldplay seem likely

Neil said about how the Stones sort everything in meeting during late December/January

Today Emily Eavis says third headliner *just* confirmed

Status on Stones FB...

I think there's a very real chance of it finally happening :P

as I've been saying for months, there's an awful lot of bits and pieces about the stones which strongly suggest they're in line to headline. But at the same time, those same things could just be coincidences.

All the same I've stuck with the idea that it might well be them no less than some of the other possibilities (well, apart from Prince - I've always said I don't think it's him), and after many other places have dismissed them as a realistic possibility.

If it turn out to be the stones I'll be mightily chuffed at my powers of deduction. :D

And if not, I've not gone out on a limb with it, so have nothing to be embarrassed about. :)

If they do announce U2 (officially) and the Rolling Stones as headliners before the resales, I feel sorry for anyone here trying to grab a ticket.

The Stones tongue logo is on the front page of the section on this year's festival.

weird - it's showing for me now.

The thing is, we know that Mr Pilton reads here - so it might just be something he's decided to go with from the suggestions that it might be them that are here.

I've heard some stuff about a Beyonce tour that's supposedly coming to the UK in June/July - tho I can't guarantee that what I've heard is accurate (tho it probably is).

And Keef Richards has said several times that their tour is meant to start is June.

But who knows really? Either of those could be wrong.

Yeah, surely if either act was going to be at Glasto, you'd expect tour dates to be announced soon. Would the owner of that site risk looking stupid by only going on rumours on here?

Neil, what about the idea you had that Coldplay may be down as a replacement if the Stones fell through? If the Stones have been booked, may that possibly mean Coldplay now aren't playing? Or is that just wishful thinking on my part?

just about everything is suggesting to me that Coldplay are playing this year, tho I could be off the mark with that.

While I expect them to headline, if Glasto has a 3rd headliner of similar statue to U2 & the stones (presuming that the stones are playing, of course), then I don't see it as an impossibility that they'll play but not headline.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
