Things that ur happy about

Well, I've gone and done it - I am 50 years old today. I got to this position despite my valliant efforts to kill myself with abuse over the years. Just about to go off camping for the weekend with about 30 mates. The weather's good and the craic will be also. This is making me happy today.

Congrats on reaching a half century of life Mr Yoghurt! :)

Bit of a result then, how was it there today. I've been stunned by the reporting on the accident. I think aside from the delay in contacting emergency services I think merlin have acted very positively towards those affected

I still can't work out where the press were getting the losing half a million a day stuff from during the closure. It seems like a very lazy glance at the full adult rate and the peak attendance level and multiplying the 2 where the reality is that very few pay that full rate and outside school holidays attendance tends to be a great deal lower

VERY quiet..... I don't think that is people staying away from the park in some sort of protest... I think its simply that last week no one knew if the park would be open this week or not. So people couldn't plan properly, booking time off work etc. Also with Smiler, Oblivion, Sonic Spinball and Enterprise all closed there is less reason to come at the moment.

I had a great day. Small queues and you could tell they where being really anal about safety today. Seem to be more staff per ride. Probably due to the other rides being closed.

I think Merlin is doing a great PR job. I had zero concerns about going back today. Chuffed with outcome. I could get used to this not having a job lark :D

Enterprise is still there? That ride is bloody ancient

I lost my wedding ring about 6 months ago. I was gutted.

I got another made by the same guy that looks exactly the same, but it's not the same.

The missus has just found the original in the garden. :D

Aw that's brilliant news. My wedding ring's way too tight now, but I can't face getting it cut off.

£50 back from nPower, after they tried to be sneaky bastards. And a letter from Scottish Power saying they owe us money too - bit odd given we've not been a customer of theirs for several years.

I want to move from npower, but every time we've changed providers before, we seem to end up paying loads during the switch.

How was your birthday bash yog

Hello atomised.

The birthday bash was all that I could have wished for. We camped (well, me and my wife were in our campervan) in an orchard owned by a country pub. We all used the pub for meals and a few drinks but mostly stayed sat in the orchard sat around chatting and having a laugh. At night we were allowed off the ground fires. I'd brought two off the ground fire bits of kit and a shed load of timber so people were able to (and did) go around the clock having the craic. There were about 25 people in all for both nights. Then we took it easy on the Sunday packing up and didn't leave until about 5.30pm. I was completely knackered but a very happy bunny at the end of it all. Oh, and one person even had a star named after me as a present and gave me a metal tin with all the details of where it is etc within it. It's probably all a big con and they've sold the naming of this star to loads of people but it was a nice touch from a dear friend. I can honestly say it was my best birthday party so far in my life. :)

That sounds truly awesome what a perfect way to mark a birthday. So pleased you had a blast

Thanks atomised.

If you ever wanted to do the same there's a good website which allows you to look up campsites which allows fires;

and also which ones have pubs next to them;

That's magic there Neil.

Mrs Oneeye lost her engagement ring back in the day, discovered it was missing at 2am whilst we were staying at my parents house. Nothing like tearing a bedroom apart looking for a small object at stupid o'clock to test your relationship; never did find it.

Ended up going back over to the Isle of Wight, knee deep in snow, to the jeweller where we bought it, and got a close replacement; financially ruined I was :)

You were financially ruined as soon as you decided to take a wife, mate.

Haha, you're not wrong, though we've been happily married now for 28 years and counting, a rarity nowadays I reckon. Still broke though.... :)

    • The Great Fete Festival (Sunday Only) Ocean Colour Scene day on Tickets For Good.
    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
    • Most likely not, keeping an eye on Tixel and Twickets might be the best option.
