Hehe. It was a fun evening.

"Let's see what all this is about"

(wait near Pyramid)

(Bruce walks on)

"You know, I didn't expect to be overawed but BLOODY HELL THAT'S BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN"

(6 minutes and two sax solos later)

"Shall we go and look at Shangri La?"

"Yeah"

Pretty much a carbon copy of my night apart from I went via the dance village :(

But how did that happen? Afterall, Bruce is the world's best performer, and (so I was told on these very forums) it was impossible for anyone to be anything but rivetted to the spot by his sheer charisma and energy. :P:P

Or just perhaps, he's not the world's best performer after all, and the show was far from rivetting for anyone but a Springsteen groupie? :P

OK, OK, I'll shut up ..... but it's not my fault, someone mentioned the B word. :P

I left Jarvis Cocker early to go & see Bruce, what a piss poor decision that was, after the "GLASTON BURRR EEEEE for the 3rd time I had well had enough we headed off as he broke into Dancing in the dark & I wasn't even bothered I missed it.

I heard on radio 2 today someone raving about a 4 and 1/2 hour set they witnessed Springsteen do onece, jesus how can anyone stand that for more than hour???

I thought he was great too. Went off to the cider bus in the middle but thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't know any of his stuff but my dad played me one of his records and I didn't really like it. Decided to catch the start just to see how he was and ended up hanging around for a bit because of Coma Girl.

My mate had barely even heard of him and he loved it. We're only 19 aswell, just to ruin Neil's pigeonholing that bit more!

I'm pretty sure that the plan was the Stones, but it seems very very likely that the Stones have blown them out.

It's hugely unlikely that the Stones would do a one-off show, and even less likely they'd do that show for worldwide TV broadcast (which is what they'd have been asked to do).

do you have any word on zeppelin or any other 40th annivarsary shocker, because i am truly stumped. as a music lover and massive fan of glastonbury, and especially with the whole jay z debarkle, surely, SURELY, this saturday headliner has got to be the biggest the festival, ANY FESTIVAL, has ever seen.

I thought it was debaclé?

I think that was the thing where a lot of closed-minded people and self-proclaimed "music lovers" were outraged that someone headlined who played music a bit different to that which normally gets played, and the same close minded people were left feeling a bit foolish afterwards for not giving the organisers of what is universally acclaimed the best festival in the land enough credit for actually knowing what they were doing, despite having run aforementioned best festival in the land for the thick end of forty years.
