Wayward Pines... meh. Terence Howard is absolutely wonderful in it so far, and is enough to keep me watching on his own. The rest is at a snail's pace with quite frankly horrific dialogue and every hallmark of absolutely shit Shyamalan work.

And what the fuck with that ending? Such intense cliffhanger. I don't quite think that'll be the last we see of Simmons, but any change would have to be really well managed to avoid it feeling like they redesign everyone with alien stuff as their early dynamic weakens.

Ha, yeah it was a bit sudden to! I can't see Simmons getting any Kree DNA, think maybe it will just end up being some sort of knowledge transfer to fight/help the inhumans.

The thing is, shows like this and all those "look at the people from this area of the country, aren't they scum?" shows have an agenda. The intent is to get one group of people to look at another and despise them. It is about keeping us divided. I don't blame the people who watch them (ok, I do a bit) but the production companies that are making them, the financiers who are backing them and the people who are agreeing to commission them for broadcast I seriously do.

The BBC knows not to bite the hands that feed it. Didn't you notice in the run-up to the Iraq War there were lots of "SAS ARE YOU HARD ENOUGH" type shows involving military types?

If the government have an agenda (and these agendas are hardly secret or conspiracy theory) then the BBC will move in that direction.

There's a management theory (that I can't immediately name) that says a large company can purchase a small, dynamic company famed for innovation and ability and even if they try to "leave it alone" it will inevitably become like the larger company - even if nobody from the big company says "we do things this way", even if they go out of their way to avoid saying that - the smaller company will look to the owners and ask themselves "what kind of things do they like". They'll do so on a survival of bureaucracy basis alone.

The people at the BBC are all-too deeply aware how much power the state has over a state broadcaster. Hell, Thatcher destroyed the entire ITV network just to get at This Week for their Death on the Rock documentary.

Do not expect the BBC to be a truth-to-power broadcaster. Today has it's uses (not least to keep the cognoscenti informed) but do not expect much them to buck the trend.

Anyone been watching The Affair? Wonderfully put together and some great acting. Two brits in the lead - McNutty and Alice from Luther. Saw a very positive review of it in the paper - AA Gill was saying that we shouldn't be smug that the US has had to cast to Brits in it, but should bemoan that we don't have enough good stuff like this made in Britain to accommodate our acting talent.

I did watch BGT, and thought the dog act was terrific. Not sure where all of the bitching is coming from, although wouldn't be surprised if most of it was from folk who didn't even watch it, or decided that because it was a dog act, it was shit.

I can't get my dog to behave off lead, never mind walk on its front legs. I didn't watch it, but I respect the patience of dog trainers, and the intelligence of the dogs.
