Football and Cricket are team games though, and players often get media training encouraged by the team they represent. In tennis, Murray isn't part of brand England or brand Liverpool etc., he's just a sportsman. Sure he'll have an agent and various support staff, but unless he wants to create a brand and media persona and culture around himself (which he doesn't seem fussed on doing), he won't be pressured into it by anyone but the media. In team sports, players are expected to appear friendly and say the right things for the good of the team's image, and I imagine captains get particular pressure to doing that.

I dont see tennis is as commercial as some sports but in saying that Murray did get nearly 600k to be a runner up and he generally performs well so earns a decent sum.
