I have post glasto blues so bad! I need something to look forward to. Does anyone have any recommendations of good festivals still to come? I know nothing will compare but interested in people's recommendations

Latitude is a great little festival. Good mix of music and arts. Some nice late night stuff as well

there's lots of festivals that are bits of glastonbury - which were your favourite bits?

The ones I hear the most as a mini glasto is Bestival though, Latitude for a more laid back version, BoomTown for the far less laid back madness.

WOMAD used to have a similarly chilled out, friendly atmosphere, but it's years since I've been.

Tempted by Latitude on my own as I won't mind plonking myself down all day watching the comedy & Bestival as it's like a smaller, hipper Glastonbury & one of the last chances to party in a field at the end of summer.

All great suggestions! It's trying to tempt my friends to join that will be the problem! I can't say I have a favorite bit I literally love it all! I go full out when I'm there and hardly sleep as I love the day and the night stuff! I mostly love the atmosphere that I have never found at any other festival, that everyone just wants to gave fun and no trouble feel!

We are going to Green Man as a family and also have a few weekend Proms tickets, for £18 you can go to every prom over a four day period. You get all of the camaraderie of G and a wide range of music within reason. Its cracking if you live within striking distance of London.

Kendal calling is quite a nice one. It's like two different festivals there, the dance tents where the teenagers get wrecked and then the main stage area/food/Tim peaks/woodlands bits which are more chilled.

I can't believe no ones mentioned No6 yet, in terms of beautiful, quirky and a bit odd it's right up there.

if you can afford it, burning man in America, only festival comparable to some of the more artistic elements of Glastonbury  (though no large musical acts, though they do have a lot of big djs).

 

friends went last year to burning man, and they say its one of the best experiences of their lives

Somersault in North Devon has a laid back vibe a lovely site and a good line up with party in the forest late at night. Bit Avalon/acousticy

The lineup isn't up to much this year but if you fancy going to Europe - Sziget is a lot of fun and goes on late, has a fun feel and plenty of non-music stuff to check out.

No it's not.

 

Buy an open return rail ticket to Ryde Pier & you're sorted, walk straight on the slow cat from Portsmouth. Shuttle bus to site.

Open ticket... rock up anytime to return on Monday, no pressure. Ok a bit of queuing, but it doesn't matter what cat or train to catch.

 

Unless you want to drive which is unnecessary & stupidly expensive.

Went to Bestival last year. Although it isn't anywhere near as good its the next best thing from my experience. Although security is high on entrance (sniffer dogs) it is a very laid back festival.
