Glasto 25 future headliner?

Tryna come up with a topic to distract people from the lack of a full line up this Is the best I could come up with.

Which acts from the 2025 (excluding the 3 headliners) are most likely to go on to be a headliner in the future?

Can't see past Doechi myself.

Hmm tough one. Is charli gonna have an album anywhere near as big as brat again? Who knows. If so maybe her.

The fest is desperate for Raye to be bigger than she is hence the sub slot but I doubt it.

Inhaler are already a few albums in and playing low so can’t see that. Although I’d have said the same about Fontaines Dc pre romance.

i know nothing about doechii but she seems pretty big too

Not sure how Biffy haven’t done it. Could see Inhaler, Lola Young, Raye & Gracie Abrams. Can’t really see anyone else getting big enough.

Would much rather have Biffy headline this year over 1975. Whilst I appreciate 1975 might be currently more popular, Biffy's longevity and excellent back catalogue suggest they deserve it to me. Maybe personal taste.

Can't wait to see them.

On topic, Bob Vylan could potential headline The other Stage in the future.

Yeah, completely echo the Biffy sentiment. I do feel like they aren’t as big as they were say maybe 10 years ago so I think unfortunately there time has passed but they’re such a good live act and have lots of well known songs I think they’d smash it.

Not sure if Bob Vylan will get that big but I’d love if they did, could 100% see Kneecap getting a stage headlining slot in the recent future but just not pyramid.

I think we are approaching an strange era for headliners.

The older generation, ie, Springsteen and Neil and Stevie Wonder etc are nearing the end of their runs.  Alive or not, they won't be up for headlining for very long.  And the Gen-Xers below them, many of the biggest rockers and hip hop artists died prematurely (soundgarden, nirvana, biggie, tupac) or just dont have the relevance to headline something like glastonbury (breeders, smashing pumpkins)   I can think of very few - Pearl Jam, Green Day, Oasis, Jayz, maybe Mariah Carey - that could headline.

So we are looking at the younger artists to step up, which is fantastic in so many ways, but maybe too soon for a lot of them.  Sza, for example.

You could probably add Blur, Radiohead and Pulp to the Gen X list however it's slim pickings really; there's no music that really crosses over into universal consciousness anymore.

Take Biffy, now I don't really know much of his stuff so I can't comment on it's quality however he's headlining the Radio 1 big weekend on Friday round the corner from me. Tickets are £37.50 for the whole day and they are still available. He may have his hardcore fans however someone who is touted as a Glasto headliner should sell out a gig at that price.

I may go but it will be for Confidence Man and Barry Can't Swim on the new music stage.

charli is literally sitting right there. If they didnt have to stick with Neil Young she wouldve been the Safurday night headliner this year.

Honestly I think they couldve gotten away with 1975 doing a Churnups style afternoon slot, and give the headliners to Charli Neil and Olivia.

Probably. Cause if theyre debuting a bunch of new material, why not shove that into an hour long set instead of having to do 90+ mins and such with expected lulls due to new songs.

Everyone saying Charli like she’s massive but she’s where she should be, she’s not as big as any of the headliners this year and brat has been advertised really well but it still remains that she can’t sell out a 40k cap show in London and any Glasto headliner should be selling that. Fontaines D.C sold more than her in London but not seeing everyone saying they should/should’ve headlined.

I’m a huge fan of Inhaler but I can’t see them making it to the top of the pyramid…would love it if it happened though.

I echo the sentiment that they seem to want RAYE to one day get there, and I see that she has cross generational appeal. However, we’re nearly two and a half years on from the release of the her first album, and consumers today are fickle. I’m not sure how well the next album will do when it does get released.

You often work out who the future headliners are once they’ve played and have clearly knocked it out the park…O-Rod and Sam Fender in 2022, Fred again in 2023, Fontaines in 2024.

I think that the fact you're referring to Biffy as he may indicate a lack of crossover into general consciousness. They're also subbing Big Weekend...to Tom f**king Grennan I think. Jesus H Christ.
