I know they've always had older acts as well as the latest stuff, but even though I'm now in my 40s I don't really want glasto to turn into a Butlins Weekender "music was better in my day" fest.

Neil Young I will grant you is rock. He's definitely in keeping with the tradition albeit I think he's well past his best but that's not what we are talking about. 

 

I don't think the festival is quite as edgy and rock and roll as it once was when I started going. It's becoming more and more mainstream by the year and definitely trying to adjust to what the younger audience are listening to.

 

My first ever year was 2004. Oasis, Macca and Muse. Now that's what I call a set of headliners. 

 

 

The thing is they dont know how to adjust to right now because they feel some weird requirement to throw the punters in their 60's a bone or else they seemingly will lose business or get more backlash then theyre getting right now. And all those people  still go cause they pay for the pricey glamping and the new generation wont do that cause f**k all on stupid spending.

I'm really pleased with the line up so far. A good 4/5 acts each day I 100% want to see. The reality is however, the more acts listed that you really want to see, the more you won't get time to see.

 

I'm just grateful I managed to secure a ticket. Must be quite annoying to be one of the ticketless people who would give anything to go, regardless of the line up, having to read all these moaning comments about the line up, from people who managed to secure a ticket.

most of the moans come from those who have no intention of going tbh. I think the lineup has gone down generally fairly well on here .... few grumbles about the top line being a bit below par for some . but overall pretty positive was going to setup a poll at some point on  feelings but its quite a hard one to categorise . Not seen anyone giving up tickets because of it

Most of the moaning comments I see on fb are from miserable old men with no real interest in music.

I would love to see the actual demographics between punters and different groups of workers as ftom my pov there are more older people on recycling or working other old school areas like the healing fields than there are in pricey glamping (sunday tix excepted)

Honestly, think the balance is terrific this year. What other British festival - and at the end of the day, immediate comparison is to be made on a domestic level - rivals it for multi-genre appeal? (There arguably are a few smaller and mid-size ones.)
