I think it's got to be

Oasis

Olivia Dean

Harry Styles

(and maybe Fontaines instead of Oasis or Harry and maybe Raye instead of OD)

and if he's still on the road in 27' then David Byrne is your legend.

The xx will probs still be around next year touring. Maybe SFA will go on for a year.

This feels right to me!

I think these are all good shouts. The XX seem incredibly likely to headline the Other stage to me

I wonder if Doechii's new album is a banger if there's any possibility of her headlining. Might still be a few years away but would love to see some hip hop headlining again one day!

Someone on here did a great bit of digging and discovered that nearly every Glastonbury bar maybe 1 or 2 had at least one act not as a headliner that went on to headline a future festival .

From last years lot i certainly recon its got to be her or Raye who do -   might be a bit of a gap though

Are we still looking for the worst headline trio?

Not sure how (if at all) it impacts headliners, but the next Fontaines record is due to start the recording process 'soon'.

'Definitely be active live next year', I've been told.

For 2026, as it stands, they just have a few sporadic summer dates (inc R+L). There was a random Insta account, with circa 10k followers, claiming the other day that they'll be touring the UK & Europe in late 2026. I did some digging on that, and found nothing.

I suspect R+L and those few dates around it will take a similar formula to what Arctic Monkeys did when they played it a few months before The Car came out; almost like a Romance encore gig, maybe playing one or two new tunes.

If the record does drop late 2026/early 2027 - I think they'll headline Glastonbury next year. That release cycle, plus Glastonbury clearly being keen, doesn't strike me as a 'wait until 2028' type scenario.

You could argue that the opportunity to book Oasis may see them hang fire, but then why not book them for the same year... if achievable?

Was it not Fontaines thinking they could do higher at Glastonbury than Glastonbury being after them?

I may not have seen something suggesting what you've said though. I see no chance currently they won't havd Oasis and Foo next year. I'd be surprised based on that if they chose against a female option which they make every effort to do for Fontaines who they don't have to get yet. Obviously if Oasis or Foos don't happen there is a conversation.

My take was more them having now played three slots at Glastonbury (including one specifically requested by them, Park headline) and being offered a fourth last year.

It strikes me as a good relationship, and I don't see a world where Glastonbury doesn't have them headline now. Just a case of when.

What's the Foo's stuff based on, out of interest? Feels a bit of a lazy booking to me, though I've lost track of where Dave Grohl has rocked up over the years at this point.

I know it will have been ten years since they last headlined, but why now?

The bloke who said it has had loads of info this year so I’d not doubt it based on that.  Arenas and of the year, huge shows in the summer (including festivals)

My bank account could really do without it

I think Fontaines were offered sub and declined it before thinking they should get better. But yes it'll happen.

Foos have made a new album, it'll be 6 actual festivals since they played last time if we include the fallows and covid years. I think they'll return to do some euro festivals they had to cancel and RAR specifically would be 4 years gap next year which is about the longest they leave it there. I think if its not next year, it would theb become an unusual amount of time to then return for an act that is quite consistent with festivals. They could still do Reading of course but it kinda feels like that moment went. You can just about getting away with a year later after an anniversary but two is a bit odd.

Oasis are the one I am pretty sure about.

Correct. That was still a significantly bigger spot than Park headline (though that Park slot is prestigious). The right move from them, in my opinion. Nailed on to headline.

I'm leaning towards Oasis as well, as time goes on. Probably get a better idea if/when they announce their next batch of dates

They will headline but I think if its not next year it'll be next album after. I'm a bit surprised they are touring again this year, let alone if they did next. I dont think Glastonbury will book them myself to headline with them playing as many years as they will have in a row by the time in comes, it's not really fresh. I'm not a fan of them to be honest, I like one song but they aren't for me. I can't disagree with them getting the bump though.

Can't really say much more, but I've just been told a bit more about Fontaines which, if I were a betting man, would see me put my money on them headlining 2027, rather than 2028.

It isn't Glastonbury specific information but, nonetheless, makes me think there's a reasonable chance. Time will tell.

30th anniversary of Angels.

If you had Oasis on Sunday with RW as the Sunday Legend, would that make a celebration of 30 years since the infamous photos of Robbie in his red tracksuit going for parties with the Brothers Gallagher at Glasto?

Pretty sure that was 1995

What I thought earlier then? Arena end of the year and big shows in the summer

The summer part, specifically.

Heard nothing, personally, about arena shows.

I could see Oasis and Fontaines doing it but then again I think Harry Styles is a cert. I doubt they go for three males so something would have to give if that was the case (which it probs isnt as im guessing 18 months out)

    • I don't think a whole raft of attendees who've been going every year since the mid 90s and mid 10s collectively all thinking the festival is no longer for us suggests we've all aged out of it at the same time. Something fundamental has changed and its pretty obvious what that is. The fact that theyve managed to skinny down the line up so much AND STILL get punters in is a real credit to the bookers, filling it with enough of the current thing to get the kids excited for a weekend while pulling in enough big names to make it worth a day out for the casual Florence fan etc... is impresive. Re Leeds: Annecdotally, from videos, numbers have looked tiny vs Reading, esp on the camping end of things, it would be good to know the official numbers and how much they're down from the peak sell out years
