2027 Headliners

More than they love a payday?

That's difficult. Obviously it probably does come down to whether they're prepared to accept less - but playing Glastonbury doesn't in any way prevent them also playing elsewhere. It'd likely be more along the lines of squeezing another (less profitable) show in amongst a tour where they'll already be getting paid huge sums rather than sacrificing a payday. Basically - it's very viable if they want it to be.

The comments obviously are meaningless and don't really tell us whether they'd want it or not.

Got to be honest, I see no difference between Olivia Rodrigo or Dua Lipa compared with Sabrina Carpenter as "Pop" headliner. Chappell Roan probably needs 1 more big album. Sabrina just has more showmanship about her.

Not that I'd see any of them mind you - I just find it weird that she is regarded as the wrong type of pop.

after watching chappell at Reading i highly disagree and she won so many people over after that performance, could 100% see her doing it in 2027 shes huge

Couldn't agree more. And the amount of singles she's throwing out now, she'll likely have enough for a new album by 2027.

Both of them were bashing the festival only this year.

You do never know with them - LG will say one thing and do the other, but they did kind of rule themselves out.

They didn’t. Liam moaned about the Pyramid Stage. He’s moaned about it in the past then reverse ferreted when it suits. Noel moaned about the politics but also called it the greatest thing about this country apart from the Premier League. Far more likely reasons for them not being there are money and them not being on tour but if Noel wants to do it they’ll be there.

Definitely

If she can't keep up the momentum (seems unlikely) she'd be an unreal subheadliner / other headliner regardless if they can nab her.

I’d agree with that. Watched  Reading on tv and thought then that would be a good shout for 27 . She would attract a big crowd and a contrast to maybe Sam Fender headlining on another night.
add in a top heritage act as third headliner and that’s a good mix.

I still think it's likelier they'll take '27 off after touring for much of '25/26. But crikey that amount of U-turning is quite something.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned on this thread, but could we finally be getting a performance from Fleetwood Mac at Glasto in 2027?

They have skipped it so many times but you never know!

They say a lot of things that don’t turn out to be entirely accurate 😂

Personally hypothetically id  see all 3 ... Taylor would compete with Elton for crowd size

Yeah she definitely would, and it would be a great booking for those who enjoy her music. She just isn't of any interest to me and I don't know any of her songs. The same goes for Fender and Capaldi.

Not convinced that she would tbh.

She'd definitely draw a very strong crowd, but even without considering potential competition there's still enough people out there that make a point of disliking her and would seek to be elsewhere to ensure that it didn't quite reach the Elton sized insanity.

Think that it'd be more comparable to when Coldplay last did it, or if Oasis come around again. Big, but not ridiculously packed in.

Unless maybe the Stones come back, I can't see anyone out there that's quite as "unifying" as Elton.

I agree

I think all of my lot would see Taylor (unless there was something else great on), but most would be seeing her because she's rare / expensive to see elsewhere etc.

If they put a dance act like Bicep or Chems against her they will easily get a busy enough Other field at glasto and by default think that would make her crowd smaller than Eltons.

Elton managed to empty out all fields even the dance areas and QOTSA had the best part of 10k people at other, few acts can do that.

I got weird FOMO when i was at Elton John, i quite fancied a lovely quiet site to wander around, and really dont mind QOTSA who were on magnificent form - that would have been a great plan B.

But Elton John was An Event, and i had a magnificent time there as well. Ive absolutely zero interest in Taylor Swift, and would rock along for five minutes just so i can annoy big fans of hers and say i'd seen her, but then i'd love being able to wander off and see what else is happening. The older i get, the less i fancy the crowds - its in and out on the pyramid field for me, i cant be bothered with that many people at all. . . .

To be fair, my money is that in that scenario she'd (figuratively) capture you and you'd stay the entire set.

I think if Sam Fender is around in 2027 he's a dead cert. British, guitar act, new (ish), and also arguably the biggest name in British music over the past 5-10 years. With the upwards trajectory he's been on, the logical next step for him is the big one, headlining Glastonbury.

I can also see them getting a huge female pop artist. Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan are good shouts, but could they do what didn't happen in the end in 2020 and land Taylor Swift? Alternatively, Madonna for an older name, as her name gets suggested every year.

Then I can see an older legacy guitar act. I can't think of many still going who haven't already done it (U2, Foos, Metallica, GNR, Stones, Springsteen, Neil Young, Paul McCartney, The Who, Muse multiple times, all ticked off). So thinking of acts who've never headlined, Green Day are a very strong option and would actually go down well. There's always RHCP too, though they're notoriously hit-or-miss live. Or perhaps even someone like Iron Maiden or AC/DC?

I’m thinking along the same lines as you…but I’d swap Sabrina or Chappell out for Harry Styles based on the rumour he’s holding off releasing his new album to tie into a tour with Glasto.

However, I believe the last time the festival had three headliners who had never headlined before was 2014 (Metallica, Arcade Fire and Kasabian) and so I don’t know if they like to have a ‘safe’ previous headliner on the lineup to make sure they have at least one safe success at the top of the bill. Foos or Radiohead spring to mind as potential bill-toppers for 2027 that have played before that would go down well. But I’d be so down for Green Day headlining and I reckon they could be back on the road by 2027.

Very low chance of it being 3 men like your suggesting - especially after a fallow year where theres lots of choice!

I don't think they would be worried about 3 new headliners if they are safe names - Green Day, RHCP, AC/DC and Iron Maiden would all be 'safe' names as are Fender, Chappell and Sabrina at this point. No chance of SZA 2.0 with any of them at least even if some are questionable at best (RHCP).
