Highly doubt Fontaines were asked when they ended up with Cast & Richard Ashcroft- clearly wasn't the vibe they were going for.

Yeah thought so

Actually what did happen is that some of the members of Fontaines made highly uncomplimentary comments on the Oasis Reunion when it was publicly announced last year, which offended Liam, not that they were asked for a support for the shows. I posted without doing proper research or fact-check, solely depending on my unreliable memories. My bad and apology for that.

Grian also quickly came out saying he didn't support the comments and he loves Oasis.

Just flippant comments made in an interview; though one of said members had a highly amusing Simpsons/Oasis crossover tshirt on in Newcastle on Sunday.

Yeah I vaguely remember that. There's no way that would mean anything in terms of them both headlining the same year though. Don't think any band ever would get that level of influence. Also, the gallagher brothers have spent the last 30 years insulting all sorts of other bands lol.

I think it's certainly possible for an act to have that level of influence, and there's enough of a status gap in this case that they could - but only if either Gallagher cared enough to insist on it which seems unlikely.

The real obstacle to Oasis playing in 2027 was and remains money.

I have absolutely no doubt Fontaines will headline next time round. The only question is when next time round is.

They have to take some time off after these final summer dates. They've put some serious graft in.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's 2028, all depends on writing and the next record.

That is one I can do some digging on in the not so distant future.

I should also get the heads up if Oasis 2026 is a goer, like I did the initial reunion. Whilst that wouldn't confirm Glastonbury, it would almost certainly mean Glastonbury asking the question about booking them - they'd be insane not to.

I don't think any act would get influence on other headliners, tbh. The festival isn't gonna put their ambitions in jeopardy for the sake of one act - i.e ripping up plans for other headliners and replacing them to appease somebody.

The influence would likely come with who subs. We've seen that before (I think), and Oasis wouldn't want another Kings of Leon 2004 situation.

I've come to think the same but there's also a few others I think will play either 27 or 28 and it's hard to fit them all in- e.g Harry Styles, Oasis, Chappell, Sam Fender. And they will aim for at least one female headliner per year too you'd imagine.

Yeah they'd have to actively want to do it which I think is likely no matter how many times people repeat nonsense claims/ articles about how they hate the place.

Fontaines should be an absolute shoe-in for a headliner slot in either '27 or '28. I fear there's going to be a real mis-read of the room and they'll be Other Stage headliners to a huge crowd instead.

I'll keep hoping that one day Green Day get the call up for the headline slot just to see it happen. Think they'd jump at the chance and would put on a monster of a show. Given how well nostalgia has been doing lately, think there has to be some market for a band like them or Blink to be a bit of a novelty on the Friday Night partnered with Chappell Saturday and Sabrina Sunday.

After the Prodigy set this year I was thinking how good either System of a Down or Pendulum would be in that spot, though ideally on a Friday/Saturday so I can go out big afterwards.

If it's true that they turned down a sub slot this year then it suggests that they see themselves as headliners and wouldn't accept any other slot.

A young raw KOL absolutely smashed it and Oasis gave what is widely regarded as a turgid performance. They were upstaged, tbh.

I wasn't there. I was 15. But, even as an Oasis obsessive, you can kind of see it. That KOL performance is ludicrous

Not happening. They won't do that

Fred Again hype will definitely have fizzled by 2027 for him not to be a headliner.

Sam Fender’s popularity has plateaued but would please a lot of people if he headlined.

Fontaines could probably do it with another solid album.

Dave’s moment has passed.

Chappell Roan could easily headline with another solid album. Seems like she’s missing an opportunity by waiting on releasing stuff.

If Sabrina Carpenter maintains the current hype then she could also headline.

Oasis would be quality but just can’t see them doing it if the money’s not there.

Harry Styles could easily do it if he’s releasing new music.

Would love a big old rock band like Iron Maiden or AC/DC but it seems to be out of the question for most of them.

I’d probably guess it might be something like:

Sam Fender / Green Day / Sabrina Carpenter

Oasis headlining Pyramid and Fontaines headlining The Other on the same day would be interesting…a tough choice for some.

Not sure I fully agree on that one.

Admittedly, what he releases next needs to hit the ground running but, lest we forget, he was set to play Wembley Stadium and headline Glastonbury this year, before plans changed; whilst selling out stadiums across the world.

I very much doubt he's just gonna disappear into the ether now.

I am very intrigued to see what he releases next, though.

Big fan of Fountaines, but I do not see them headlining.

Reminds me of Foals 10 or so years ago.. Looked for all the world they were nailed on to headline and their momentum just never quite reached the level needed to secure the headline slot.

Fountaines are big enough to headline almost any other UK festival already, but Glasto attracts such a high calibre of act and also has to set aside one of the headline slots for an act that appeals to the slightly older generation, I just don't see them fitting anytime soon. They will be back of course and no doubt they will be very high up the bill, but I cannot see them taking one of the big 3 spots in either 27 or 28.

Foals never sold tickets or had as much hype as Fontaines D.C. They sold out big outdoors shows in Manchester London and Newcastle pretty quickly. But yeah, it does depend on their next album probs. If it is another Romance then they're big enough imo.

I can see them being the hottest band in the world in two years.

Wunderhorse are on an upward trajectory, I was very impressed at their Park show this year. Would honestly say they were the best band I saw this year, they really went for it. Could see them getting a much bigger slot next time. New single is superb too.
