2027 Headliners

Sabrina would be a terrific and very fun headliner even if it wouldn’t be my first choice, reckon 2028 or 2029 would be ideal for her!

Her star will have faded by then - it's 2027 or bust for her. Her music won't have the lasting and cross-generational appeal of someone like Olivia Rodrigo.

Sab Carp will kill it.

She's just killed two nights at BST. She'll smash it and humiliate anyone that says she wouldn't.

I think she would for the right crowd and maybe have to be the Sunday for locals day, I think Olivia was Sunday for this point and she didn't fill the field yet still would have sold out two nights at BST albeit we don't have the proof for that. Glastonbury is a whole 5 day gig whereas BST is single nights with those going just for her and neither on school days either.

She’s obv big enough to headline but I feel she’s a bit overrated. None of her tunes are better than anything katy perry did at her peak imo and no way she’d have been deemed a headliner.

You can blame the OCC charts for that, there's a much smaller pool of chart success pop stars to choose from than their was in Katy Perry's day due to songs sticking around in the chart forever and streaming weighting.

The Sunday tickets really aren't a significant factor.

There's only 5,000 of them. Even if every single one of them went to see Olivia Rodrigo, that's still going to account for a single digit percentage of her crowd.

But the reality is that not all of those 5,000 will have gone to the Pyramid. I don't think there's any reason to believe that at this point the demographics/tastes are significantly different to the rest of the festival. It's very likely that plenty of them would have been older people who no longer do the weekend, and went to Prodigy to relive their younger days.

That's fair. A lot of those just locals though do just stay at the Pyramid all day because if they get them there is something about it. I do heavily think though that Sabrina having both weekend days helped with BST, Olivia had Friday and the bloody of people coming in later on after schools would have finished, gone home and changed etc was crazy. I don't think Sabrina does those numbers midweek for example, I mean schools know where you are if especially you're a younger girl and there is a load that suddenly have alternate days off but are there the next day. Not like you won't talk about these things either. Being at the weekend they don't have to hide it.

Watched the am arrivals at gate A on the Sunday and there was loads of day ticket holders carrying chairs, picnic rugs etc. ideal for a day at the pyramid

In a way they are but the more packed the pyramid gets you can't just have picnics everywhere, it is easier to do it at BST. A lot of the rugs are for families as the young one's don't want to stand all day. They stand and then sit down and just don't stand unless it's an act for them.

Sab Carp brought on Duran Duran last night.  Come on man.

Was there as well. Whole show was screaming future headliner. Eavis surely knows it.

Sabrina was lame at Primavera, hope Glasto knows better.

Ariana would have to get healthy again to even consider touring again, much less play Glasto...

Whereas I, not a huge fan prior to seeing her there, though she smashed it. The BST shows look like they amped it up further too.

Glad you liked it better than I did. Found her set to be superficial and lightweight. Lots of dull album tracks. If people thought Dua Lipa used too much backing tape at Glasto, they'd have a conniption at how much Sabrina relied on it. Whereas I'm still not a fan of Chappell, but her Primavera set was an objectively good pop show and would be a much better fit for Glasto.

She had a full band at BST.

Needs the new album to fill out the set properly, but with the new one dropping next month plus probably another in 2027, she'd easily pull it off.

Would think Chappell is a better fit, though.

If The Kinks reunite would you have them headline or give them the legends slot? There's been various articles over the past few years suggesting they might be ready to get back together, personally I'd have them headline but with the changing demographics of the festival I wonder if I'm over-rating them?

The Kooks have more chance of headlining...

There's absolutely zero chance The Kinks reunite. The only articles I've seen were in the 10-15 year ago range, and if it was ever going to happen it would have been then.

In that entirely hypothetical scenario, based on status and legacy they'd absolutely be the most important act of the weekend. But wouldn't headline. Would be 3rd from top on a Saturday afternoon, with it being hyped up.

There's a load of articles from 2023 which is fairly recent. I can't see how you can say they'd be the most important act on the bill but not headlining? If they're the most important act then surely they headline?

The two most important acts this year weren’t even on the Pyramid, never mind headlining

I said "based on status and legacy". There are, of course, many other factors that would go into determining a choice of headliner where they wouldn't come out on top (zeitgeist, potential crowd size, etc).

Can you point to any of those 2023 articles? I did a (admittedly quick) Google and couldn't see anything both recent and credible.

I don't agree with you here, do you want to name these supposed two most important acts? Surely one would be Neil Young and the other Olivia Rodrigo. Both headliners.

    • Tell me more. Last Latitude we went to was '21 - my son was young & had a wagon so we snuck good beers in that way. I remember there being some Brooklyn IPA on sale which was tolerable - are you saying they don't sell anything other than Carlsberg now?! 😳
    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
