I queued up all night outside Maine road for Maine Road tickets, outside the Apollo for Knebworth tickets and outside Virgin Records on Market street for G-Mex tickets. Queueing for tickets was an event in itself. Not sure I could do it these days, as my age.

Remember queuing from 10.30pm Friday night outside Sheffield Arena for U2 tickets.  They went on sale at 9am and we finally got sorted about 11am.  Great night was had by all.

Those were the days! I remember them doing it for Springsteen at Leeds Arena a decade or so ago, I think? They'd explicitly been non-committal on it - and then had counted two apiece for every punter in a queue around the town hall two hours before sale and handed them out at nine on the dot.

I did that for U2 at the NEC and for Oasis at the NIA on the Be Here Now tour.

Tickets were never removed from my account, but haven't been able to transfer them since the day I got them.

Slightly annoying as I got through and got the tickets for my partner, two of her friends, and my cousin. I'm not going. Am I going to have to give them access to my ticketmaster account on the day probably?

nope. just wait. it happened with swift last year to where transfers were enabled a couple weeks before.

Yeah, I'd imagine transfers will happen really late in the day. Usually the way of these things.

24 hours is the absolute latest they could wait. . Youre inviting a ton of issues if you try to make it day of . I dont think they want a giant queue at the box office because an honest person wanted to get their ticket to their mate who is arriving later and isnt allowed or has an account issue.

Per NME, the band is:

Liam Gallagher

Noel Gallagher

Paul Arthurs

Gem Archer

Andy Bell

Joey Waronker

Was never a fan of Joey Waronker's drumming when he drummed for REM. But then what do I know. Surprised it's not Chris Sharrock.

I was told categorically the other day that Andy is doing it, which is mint.

The HFB stick people are using in an attempt to beat it - is Gem (... ex Oasis) and a backing singer, or two, from HFB - that is most definitely a good thing, with the voices not being what they once were.

Aside from Starkey, Sharrock or White doing it, this is the best option for it, in my opinion.

Don't know loads about REM. Was he their drummer throughout or just for a period? Did he play Glasto with them?

for about 4 years when their actual drummer wasn't. He's was (is?) Beck's drummer for a good while too, and Roger Waters fairly recently, and Atoms for Peace (Thom Yorke, Flea) when that was a thing. Assume he's known to Oasis as he was the drummer for Liam/John Squires album.

Yes I've been on wikipedia for 5 minutes this morning.

Is it too cheeky to suggest that the drum skills required are significantly higher for REM than for Oasis? I mean, I reckon I could probably muddle through on the kit for an Oasis set. And I play the 'ukulele.

Well Bill Berry definitely had his own style, not sure any of the drummers in particular did.... or should I say, they all did, but changed so frequently!

Give me Alan White any day.

I think that’s entirely fair. Berry wasn’t a phenomenal drummer but had to do a lot more than any Oasis sticksman (with a nod to White, I really liked him)

He took over for abit when Bill Berry left.

But they didn't start rocking again (IMHO) until Bill Rieflin came in.

I think JW would have been drumming for both Glastonbury performances though.

From memory it was Waronker in 1999 and Rieflin in 2003. Totally agree the latter was superior.

Edit-it was Rieflin. His drumming on The One I Love and Finest Worksong sticks in my head as great

    • I decided to goto bed early for the Aussie game rather than stay up for Scotland. I don't regret my decision, I also love the complete over reaction during the world cup when a player has 1 good game, that Watford winger is now everyones dream signing. Its also funny when clubs get into the hype and end up overpaying for someone who then does nothing in the prem.

    • I read the Kerrang review and they didn’t seem overly positive. The definition of a 6 out of 10.
    • Interesting the stat guys say 3 points and -3 goal difference is where it gets to 50/50 territory in terms of going to the last 32. If Scotland lose their last 2 at best they are on -1, play like they did yesterday and they could take a heavy loss.   However thinking about it positively get 4 points from the last 2 games and the group is won! Have heard a few saying Scotland should just park the bus next 2 games, but not sure they have the players to do it. From my perspective they could really do with a decent defensive midfielder to add balance, but not sure if they have one in the squad. They also need significantly more from Mctominay who I thought was poor, but understand he has been unwell.
