ok, whatever. I really can't be arsed with you said this no you said that and some weird car driving metaphors.

I was just saying...and it will be last time I say it, promise...I expect most Gazans would like to go back to how things were pre Oct 7th.

Yes you are victim blaming.

ok, well I think I'm done with this, If people are arguing that what is happening in Gaza was always part of the Israeli plan then I think there's nowhere else to go. I like to think there are moderate people on all sides who want to live side by side, and that most Israeli's just want security, and most Palestinians just want both self determination and security, and that both just want to live their live side by side, but maybe the extremist, maximalist voice always wins out and hate feeds hate which is why ultimately any two state (or one state) solution will never succeed and it's probably all f**ked.

The Gazans need better than pre Oct 7th

I guess the erosion of Palestinian territory since 1948 has just been a series of happy coincidences for the Israelis.

Ok, but going to pre 1948 seems maybe unlikely...unless Hamas and Hezbollah somehow get their way.

UN partitioned Palestine into a Jewish and Arab state, UN should sort it out

Except, this isn’t just about Hamas and Gaza. The West Bank has seen record settler violence, land grabs, and raids. Entire villages displaced. That’s not hate feeding hate, it’s a system working exactly as intended.

Ok. Fair. But I was talking about Hamas and Gaza, not the settlers in West Bank...who are sh*t yes but the scale is totally different.

Meanwhile, and trying not to veer to far away from Kneecap, Louis Theroux has recently tweeted that Issa Amro (the Palestine man featured in “The Settlers”) has been subject to increased harassment from Israeli soldiers and settlers since the airing of the documentary.

The settlers are enabled by the Israeli government and protected by the IDF.

I’ve also no doubt if Gaza is “conquered”, it won’t be long until the West Bank ceases to exist too.

Maybe...but again I was talking about Hamas and Gaza. The settlers in West bank is a different part of it all...

This is all great for Kneecap though because their music is instantly forgettable.

 I beg to differ.

I'm no big fan of rap particularly but at the tail end of last year I got offered a very last minute place on the guest list at a Kneecap gig in Bristol. I'd seen the Kneecap film a few weeks previously and did enjoy it but didn't really know quite what to expect at an actual Kneecap gig.  I went along and crikey, it was absolutely superb. I'm no stranger to live music but the energy exploding on stage and the crowd bouncing  like lunatics throughout was a sight to behold. Genuinely one of the most energetic audiences that I've been a part of for quite some time.

If Kneecap do get to play Glastonbury I suspect that you describing their music as 'forgettable' won't be the opinion of an enormous number of people there.

 Fingers crossed.....

There's 2 million people in Gaza, half of them under 18. So there's one million people that have never lived a reality, where they're not basically imprisoned with Israeli bombs killing their loved ones left right and centre.

So yeah, f**k Hamas, but their existence is sadly completely understandable.

Israel wanted the arabs gone in 1948 and they want them gone now. It has been a plan all along.

well yeah..ok...and the arabs wants israel gone.

But here we are. Zionist jews followed by Jewish refugees were going to Palestine when it was under British rule. There was always a divide in zionish between the more idealist utopia communist types which just thought the Arabs wouldn't be a problem and were almost a side thought. and the more aggressive revisionist zionism which was a minority back then but was more expansionist and thought the Arabs don't want us we have to physically take the land...and this lot evolved into Likud. Then came the holocaust and western guilt and the british mandate was ending and in 48 UN decided to partition Palestine into Arab and Jewish states, a year before had seen the India/Pakistan partition so it was a bit of a thing. The Jews were fully on board, the Arabs weren't. Then came Nakba and the war which the Jews won and it has been a disaster for Palestinian Arabs ever since. I think the UN, along with some western and arab countries. carries a lot of responsibility, with this, it has been an utter disaster.

Anyway, my point was and is that before Oct 7th those kids and young people in Gaza could go to school, they could go to University, could set up a business, could get married, could have a life...all be it with restrictions on their movement from Israel, and the some times there would be fighting and bombs, but aid and support was there. But since Oct 7th that has all gone, now they are desperate people, many with no homes, the kids have no schools, there are no hospitals, the UN and world does nothing (or not enough), and they are starving...and this is why on the whole people are most upset globally, it is a humanitarian disaster playing out and Israel are still getting aid and support from US and others and there is inaction.

And Hamas, who are still there, who still are holding hostages, whatever their reason for those attacks, whatever they were trying to achieve, and that attack was well planned and they knew who was in the current Israeli government and surely knew there would be massive and devastating reprisals, those attacks have been an unmitigated failure for the Palestinians in Gaza, but also in West Bank.

I see we’ve reached the whataboutery phase. Both these groups aren’t currently carrying out a genocide nor is our government supporting them.

If Hamas had the opportunity to kill every Jew in Israel, do you think they would do it?

Let’s put it a different way, if Hamas were the most evil organisation in the world, it still wouldn’t justify the atrocities Israel is inflicting on the Palestinians to wipe the out.

Or in your opinion, does it?
