On a train to Bruges. My first Rock Werchter was absolutely incredible. Friday, in particular, was one of the best days I’ve ever spent at a festival.

I’ll post in more detail later.

Hope you all had a great time too.

I'll be making decision earlier next year based on that I'll actually have money coming in and nothing is im the way.

First time at Rock Werchter. Will likely be coming back again. Top 5 acts for me...

1) Raye - an incredible surprise. Not someone I've listened to before really but infectiously likeable, with a wide range of emotions experienced within the hour. Both my partner and I cried during the set. Could see them headlining in the future.

2) Green Day - first time seeing them after unfortunately having to resell tickets to rescheduled Hella Mega tour. Stadium punk (if that isn't a contradiction!) to perfection. We had queued up through Simple Minds to get a spot at the front and the atmosphere was incredible throughout the whole set.

3) Iggy Pop - easy to see myself falling in love with the Barn as a venue. Absolute icon playing a set full of hits, we watched from the front stands and could see the crowd flooding out the back into the fields. Couldn't have asked for a better introduction to Rock Werchter experience on the first night.

4) Weezer - might be where my rankings differ most from others, but I just really love them as a band. Setlist full of hits, with El Scorcho as a personal highlight. Singing along on the barrier and a perfect time of day for them in the late afternoon sun.

5) Noah Kahan - bit of a surprise for me, but we were in a great spot with lots of enthusiastic fans and found him to be humble, funny and genuinely happy to be there. Thought we might get treated to a cameo from Olivia Rodrigo, but even without it was a great set. Has won me over to going to his own gig when he is next touring. In some ways the perfect festival act where you aren't sure at first and wouldn't necessarily get a ticket to see them separately but then get won over.

Fontaines DC, Amyl, Wet Leg, Warhaus (with Sylvie!), London Grammar (unfortunately only from outside the Barn), Elbow (fortunately managed to push through into the Barn!), Dasha and 2manydjs also highpoints throughout the weekend.

Main regrets are not being able to spend enough time at the Slope, and not getting further forward for Linkin Park after watching Iggy. Best atmosphere was definitely at the Barn and Slope. I think in the future I'd be more confident trying to get into the traffic light barrier section for a better atmosphere on the main stage.

For anyone on the fence, I'd highly recommend as one of the cleanest, easiest and most efficient festivals I've ever been to.

Fingers crossed '26 has a good lineup...

First impression of my first RW: how OVERCROWDED it is! Fortunately it was only on the first day.

Merchandise buying system is insane: you can't check, touch or even see closely the t-shirt you like, as sellers must firstly make an order on their system, then bring the chosen item to you. Takes lots of time, spent 40 minutes in that line (my mistake that I decided to do this on a first day), missed Sigrid due to that.

The closest area at the main stage is extra small, don't understand the reason for it. If they need to separate the crowd with two layers of barriers why should it be that size? Rock im Park does it much better, Pinkpop make do with only one layer with similiar amount of visitors.

Barn is a great and atmospheric stage, but it would be much better without side walls (like at Lowlands for example, which has all of their stages under tents, including the main one). Heard that two years ago it was even more closed, so some improvements can definitely be made.

Started with cons, but other than that (and enormous food prices on site) the festival was wonderful. Lineup is massive as always, crowds were great at all but Main stages, perfect shuttle bus system to / from Leuven, lots of water points, lots of sunscreen points (really helped on first two days). Top shows for me were Elbow, girl in red and Iggy Pop. Dance Sunday with Foster the People - GOOSE - Bolis Pupul - Soulwax - Rüfüs Du Sol back to back was a perfect ending (Olivia Rodrigo ended as subjectively one of the worst headliners I've ever saw at any festival, don't @ me).

Next year for me will depend on the lineup and ability to find some place to live in Leuven for a decent price 🙂

Cheers to everyone who was there!

I'll be honest with you man, opinions and music thoughts aside, if you had a great time for the money you spent there that that is all that matters really. That's just me being genuine. I unfortunately could not attend even if I really wanted to due to various thing but I don't think I would have had as good a time as you due to my interests. Being in a job longer, affording to go and Green Day not playing Download would have seen me bite after the resale failed.

As for your points, a first time seeing Green Day is a great experience, I actually think seeing them at Download put me off a little as I wouldn't need to see them again in that short time and the alternative definitely wasn't happening. Weezer I found a bit dull at Download also kinda put me off bearing in mind Green Day, Weezer and Girl in Red with maybe the start of Underworld was all of my interests to make effort for Friday. The Iggy Pop issue was always going to happen but you probably wouldn't leave Iggy earlier to then feel like you missed out.

ah it's good still to see different takeaways from it.

So my overall thoughts (as a first timer):

Organisation is absolutely fantastic, the place is so clean, the queues are pretty much always easy to navigate and the hive set up (my space for us) was brilliant.  The shower system for instance is so handy and having our pitch ready and paid for was brilliant.  Toilets always seemed clean but god I feel for women, more needs to be done for them to stop them having to queue for so long

The music is obviously the main reason to be there and as echoed elsewhere The Barn is spectacular, Klub C is also a great indoor arena and The Slope is 100% the place to be for a mosh/circle pit.

My top acts of the weekend were:

1. Maribou State

2. Gurriers

3. Linkin Park

4. Gracie Abrams

5. Iggy Pop (just for The Passenger atmosphere alone)

Special mention also to great sets by The Scratch, Joey Valance & Brae, Raye and Amyl & the Sniffers.

Only real disappointing acts I heard all weekend were Jasmine4t, Bright Eyes and Barry Can’t Swim.

Couple of nice surprises thrown into sets and also were in the right place for a Dimiti Vegas special guest spot

Food - it’s overpriced of course and personally didn’t think it was the greatest quality.  There were as many bad meals as good.

Travel - got the Eurostar out and the connections were simple to the site and then the Ferry back with the drive to Calais being pretty easy too

Would I go back - 100%

top acts with the caveat that I couldn't make the Sunday

Green Day - class as always, mega fun - a riot from start to finish, super easy to get a spot where the crowd were invested

Lambrini Girls - punk down to the ground, saw bob vylan at glastonbury and said "hold my beer, i want a turn" - first act to jump off the slope too? Phoebe is a star.

Gurriers - can't take my eyes off you - the mosh was sandy as hell but a riot and once the crowd surfing started it just did not stop. I love Come and See and love that they got the spotlight here.

Iggy Pop - still got it, legacy act with his heart in the right place. Lust for Life and The Passenger oh my word.

Fat Dog - warned a couple of first-timers that there was going to be crowd surfing and I couldn't resist being the first up on the left, went up like 3 times - mega fun pit. Helped about 20 stay/get up and was orchestrating that crowd surf as much as I could.

Heilung - felt like a stage performance rather than a concert, transformative.

Amyl and the Sniffers - arguably they've reached a point where they're too big for what they are now, but whaaat a show. Heirs to AC/DC apparent. Amy Taylor is saying the same stuff as Kneecap/Lambrini Girls/Bob Vylan et al but not getting the same spotlight for being a political punk figurehead.

Would've liked not to see three acts from last year back on the same day again - Nothing But Thieves, Tom Odell and Yungblud all felt a bit uninspiring - even if two of them were last min replacements. Was also fairly whelmed by Simple Minds and bailed three songs into Linkin Park for the excellent Nia Archives.

spent most of my time in the slope or in the barn 10/10 would do again. too early to predict 2026 headliners yet? remember this time last year Pearl Jam, Metallica, Billie Eilish were floating about. Obviously, all turned out to be wrong.

Travel was a nightmare on the Sunday - Eurostar horrific - but getting the refund was a lifesaver.

As expected this year's edition became a very mixed bag of experiences. The weather helped a lot for the first three days (but also made me priortize different than planned) and for the most days the logistics also worked well. The exception being Sunday, where the lines up to the festival was way too long and made me miss Emmy, while the ones back after 2ManyDJ's where the worst I've experienced in my 13 year old RW career. I had some friends that left after Olivia and walked straight onto the bus, so what happened meantime there was unacceptable. The rain didn't help either.

Otherwise the physical setup was quite similar to last year, and I wouldn't say the small changes made any major differences. The new Apero area was nice enough, but hardly any seating. The old one got an extra roof if I remember correctly, which was nice on Sunday. Music though, I felt was a big setback this year on the Towers with less sing-a-long/guilty pleasures type and more hardcore DJ sets. Did anyone know who the surprise DJ was btw? Else, food was expensive as always (but felt the Tapas platter on the Grill in Apero was nice value and good), and the new recycling system is really a just reducing the value of the old one. Should be said though, that the ability to recycle less cups and at all drink vendors was nice. Lockers being outside is still annoying as hell and it was even flooded on Sunday.

Music wise:

Thursday: Charles was a nice surprise and Mother Mother became one of my top 5 of the festival. Amyl cool, but like many others they drown on the Main Stage. Fontaines was a disappointment with a slightly lower energy level than anticipiated, and it felt like they were cutting a few songs short. Should be mentioned that my alcohol level was about to peak than also, so just walked around a bit before catching Linkin Park, which was nice enough.

Friday: Pvris and Sylvie just ok, while Wet Leg made my mood become better (although I also felt Main Stage was too big for them). Caught the first half of Bad Nerves, which we reallly liked, but Weezer was the most anticipated act of the weekend so we went to see them deliver the goods. Boston Manor was quite ok, but I regret that I prioritized Girl In Red before Warhaus (patriotism took over). Simple Minds where nice, while Green Day delivered one of the better headline sets I've seen on Werchter.

Saturday: Thank God for decent weather, because this day was weak. Considered dumping Bright Eyes also to not spend the nice part of the day inside, but thankly we didn't, because I really liked them. Forced on Damiano David by my wife, but must admit I like him better as a pop artist than in Måneskin, and he has some hits. Watched Nothing But Thieves, but although I am a fan, I felt they were a bit uninspired. I had plans to see Yungblud when he was the emergency co-head, but skipped him for head, making a bit earlier day home (which ended up in a bar until 04 PM, so so much for that).

Sunday: Hard day to get up for, but line-up and form wised. Did decide to try for Emmy though, but very disappointed by the previously mentioned queues that made us miss it. Combined with the weather, for some reason that just pulled the life out of us, knowing we could have spent some extra hours in bed instead, so we didn't catch anything before getting dragged along on something that was a bad trio. First Dean Lewis which I just think feel cringy for some reason. Gracie was boring (but not my music) and Rufus Du Sol was just as plain as last time (except for On My Knees which is awsome). Olivia Rodrigo was ok, although I don't care too much for her music, but luckily 2ManyDj's delivered a worthy end. At that point I was alone as all others had went home, but it was worth the stay.

All in all, the weather saved the festival a bit for the three first days, but Saturday and Sunday became as bad as I feared, and especially Sunday would have needed nice weather. Makes me really consider my options next year. Guess we'll see where things are heading after the headliners are announced. Two poppy ones, means we can expect genre days next year. Nice for some but not for all..

Only just realised from this that NBT was yet another repeat pull in. They might as well have booked 2024 again with a side of extras lol.

Missing any of Dasha or Emmy early on Sunday would have killed that day completely as it was too dead for me and the wrong side of pop after Emmy until Olivia. I'd have watched Dean Lewis just because but trying to watch acts you're not that bothered about just because they are on is tough. I don't think you made a mistake seeing Girl in Red, way better live than on record.

It's a pain when you get acts that just shrink on a main stage and in fairness for having been 13 times, you're going to have a decent idea of what's stands out and sounds good and what doesn't there as different festivals also being different vibes.

On the Sunday thought Dasha was a lot of fun in the rain and did really well given the difficulties of an early set time and the bad weather. Had a lot of fun two stepping among all the umbrellas.

Have they ever done secret sets before? I may catch a bit of him at Cream next month. He's not who I'm going for but it's extra, only want to hear the Stan remix....so of course I'll miss that bit lol.

You done creamfields before? What's the vibe like?

Thinking about it as its the day before I go back to work. I am doing sziget, then a week away with the family. Creamfields to finish the summer off would be good, its that or Raye at APE.

Did the south version couple of years ago.

If it's between that and Raye lol it's not even a choice.

I've done Creamfields once, couldn't fault the vibe. Thought it would be loads of druggies just in your face being a t**t but it wasn't. One guy got a bit too weird that was on something but I distanced.

I never thought Creamfields would be your thing really. The issue I have with it is that I'm good with constant electronic or edm for a day, not a whole weekend and I'd have to go alone because not many friends like it. My one friend who doesn't prefers some different kind of face to their usual bookings.

Re secret sets - they did some sort of secret surprise sets to mark 50th anniversary. It worked via app notification + form subscription.

I got selected for Sawyer Hill acoustic set in a backstage room, in front of 14 fans. It was pretty cool 🙂

You would be surprised, it would only be for the Saturday.

I prefer the festivals that have a mix of genres, but still done the genre specific fests like Download and creamfields.

To be fair Raye day at APE us pretty damn fine.

Yeah I picked up a twickets for Saturday a while back as I missed the original price so managed to get it. There isn't enough I don't think to go there Sunday too. But I'm seeing if I can pick up a cheap Leeds Sunday day ticket to enhance the weekend. So far someone isn't budging on £80....mot that they were getting that anyway lol.

I'm not into Tyla, Doechii or Jade haha. I like the catchy one from Raye.

Guetta and Garrix will probably clash. I'm trying to get a garrix ticket for Gunnersbury instead. Guetta I'll probably see in ibiza.

After failed getting Glastonbury tickets, I decided to go with a friend to BST (Zach Bryan day) then head to Brussels for Neil Young and then proceed on my own for RW.

After some sh*t happened, I was forced to cancel my trip and sell my tickets. While Ticketswap did force me to maneuver things before I can sell the ticket (as they're not working in my country) the circumstances have changed and I was able to book a flight just 5 days before RW, so in somewhat emotional rollercoaster, I was able to see Neil Young in Groningen and participate in my 7th RW.

Although the lineup was mixed bag for my taste and 2 of my most anticipated acts have canceled (English Teacher and Sam Fender) I had a wonderful time.

My last one was in 2022, so there have been some changes, some good and some bad. The fact that the tents now have a bar and toilets is a game changer! Especially since the X's system installed making it harder to get in time into the tents, now it relieves the pressure to pee or grab some drinks before heading there.

On the other hand I didn't like that the screens outside the tents have moved to the front of the tents. It's great for the artists to see all the people swarming the tents but it really make the bottlenecks near KluB C way much worse then it used to be.

I also didn't like that the Slope has moved but that solely because it made it possible to hide from the sun 😎. I understand why it moved and now it can contain much more people yet still remain enough intimate, saw there some good sets with great atmosphere.

Like many of you, I hope that in the future RW will return to form with its booking.
