Download is more or less confirmed by Download itself.

Download already released that pretty less than subtle hint that Greenday were headlining

What if they do both given Glastonbury will be sold out by November?, and the alternative was Download booked Slipknot again or someone that wasn't ready yet and suffered.

Metallica aside - which was a noted exception - there's just no history there of sharing headliners.

No there isn't, but this year just gone was a much different look you could say and there is only so long they can keep doing that. They've had to give Metallica two nights to get them back. Green Day could say we could play BST and Glastonbury. It's probably not happening though it might be the choice between that and booking Slipknot again.

You're all mental for thinking one single post by a social media team means anything

Apparently last year they did a post referencing the black parade, making everyone think MCR would headline - and they didn't.

Not saying they're not doing Download, but Live Nation are scum and will do anything to sell tickets

It was actually Sonisphere. The two gaps though unless the early one is filled in with more to come says both are open with them being announced for Glastonbury last. I fully believe they are playing Download though.

Maybe so - but there's been far more similar posts that have infact been a clue. Especially when as blatant as this

Not sure how much we can take that as being indicative of the future though.

There's very few acts that have ever headlined Download that would even be considered suitable to top the Pyramid Stage, so there's much less opportunity for there to be an overlap. Metallica, GnR, AC/DC, Muse, maybe MCR or Iron Maiden would be about the entire list.

My gut feeling is that Glastonbury haven't got Green Day this year, as I think Download will have paid for some form of exclusivity - but if the Download announcement doesn't mention that, would have to think they're a possibility.

My gut feeling on overall reflection is you're right as for them to play it puts Olivia who we know is playing on a day that we pretty much know she wouldn't be. The only way around it would be to do 3 dates in a row.

Green Day not doing the Saturday of Download would feel weird in my head given who else is anticipated though.

It really does. I can imagine it being a bit of a come down anticlimax to have Green Day night 1 and then finish with ST and Korn (who should really be Friday) but I guess it depends in availability.

Absolutely, and they've been chasing Green Day for so long that it would be a coup to just finally get them over the line.

But yeah. Bit of a comedown.

But if it was the choice between Green Day Friday and booking Slipknot again then I'm going to trust the one's that say it's on.

To be honest in this scenario of them doing both as a random never before, it would make sense to send out a hint for ticket sales. I certainly don't think them having 4 days free before a gap between 3 days of Oslo Glastonbury Luxembourg is any less likely than flying from Download to Italy for a gig two days later.

Worth pointing out that BBC played Luxembourg just a day separate to Glastonbury so there is nothing actually stopping Green Day playing the Sunday

If there's no exclusivity i think i'd be looking towards Glasgow rather than Glasto

Download's announcement is coming in mid-November, so I guess we'll check in then. They do seem like the festival that would shout about it if it was a UK exclusive for 2025 imo, or at least a "festival exclusive" like Isle of Wight did for Green Day's spot there in and amid a 4 date stadium tour.

Muse did play Download and Glastonbury on the same tour cycle for Drones, but Download 2015 and Glastonbury 2016 so not quite the same as doing both in the same year. Would've been overkill to do both in the same month imo.

I would love this. Not someone I like enough to pay a ton for at their own gig but would 100% be there if they topped the Pyramid.

My thoughts exactly! O-Rod / Greenday / Fred is not a bad little balance at all IMO

Thumbs up from me for that trio 👍🏼

As much as I understand the mixed feelings around Eminem. I do think it will be a shame if Glasto miss out on such a monumental artist. Can't see it happening though.

    • Top 5 acts of the weekend for me: 1. The Cure 2. my bloody valentine  3. caroline 4. Father John Misty 5. Big Thief   Biggest disappointments: - Slowdive (the mixing/sound just wasn’t right, and that was about 20 rows from the front of the stage) - The xx (also too quiet and marred by talkers who had no interest in the music)    Positives from an organisational sense: - extra water point at Mordor this year - handing out ponchos before the rain and ear plugs before mbv    However…two of the water points had ran out on Saturday evening, which is completely unacceptable when you stop people from bringing in large bottles of water, and charge €4.50 at the bars for a 330ml can
