Are we thinking Olivia Rodrigo and Fred Again are the most two likely now then? If so I’d imagine it’ll have to be someone like Stevie Wonder alongside those two unless Emily wants two female headliners again.

There does appear to be a correlation between people suggesting it’s Fred and people who’d love it to be Fred. I’m not suggesting it’s not legit (I have no inside info) but wishful thinking seems to be a factor.

I think O-Rod is far more likely, and Stevie seems to be in the frame (but why?!). The third one is up in the mix, I reckon.

Not impossible I guess. Dunno if she's quite stadium / Heaton Park level at this point in her career though, so would need to be a sort of medium sized one.  And obviously a pisser for folk with the Coop tickets.

2 nights at that big arena which I guess sold out quickly can't be too far off Heaton Park level. That said, I just cannot picture her playing Heaton park, not sure why - probs cause i associate that place with the courtneers.

Of all the myriad artists it could be I dunno if Fred is anyone's absolute #1 heart's desire.  At least not when compared to someone like Gaga.  However, beyond wishful thinking there have been a couple of folk saying flatly - here and elsewhere - that he's locked in.

I dunno, the last I heard was that he’s a lock if acts they’d prefer can’t commit. Either way, the mere suggestion that it’s not Fred’s time yet gets some people spitting.

Maybe there's a camp wanting a Fred headline show so bad that they start to manifest it - but the camp that accepts he's big enough and it's a decent booking* - without being massively wowed by it - is likely far bigger.

(*not to say a hopefully cost effective one)

I could see it Fred is the 4th choice then Olivia and Rihanna being in.

I swear I keep seeing the Rihanna new album and world tour to drop imminently mentioned in the media.

It must happen soon. I guess there is just gonna be one day where the details are out and it will either look like Glastonbury or it wont.

I do agree with what everyone is saying about Fred. It feels like it's been talked about as a certainty so much that everyone has assumed its happened. Probably worth checking if there is any actual info. Could easily be a manifestation.  I think he is big enough to headline and he would want to and is affordable... does not actually mean its happening

I agree that O-Rod is certainly seems the most likely as it stands

Though - as far I'm aware - O-Rod is actually the only one on the main shortlist who there's no scuttlebutt on and is on the list purely through vibes alone.

Guy in the r&l section hinted she’s playing another U.K. fest other than reading and he’s got previous good info

I'd like to know how many of us have seen Eminem and what the verdict is.

Saw him at V festival (rip) in 2011 and he was incredibly disappointing. Mimed all the way through. However, Rihanna (who ‘supported’ him) was surprisingly very good. 😬

I’ve seen him twice and he’s decent enough. I think of all the genres Hip Hop is the one that translates the worst to a live show but having seen a lot of rappers live he is better than most.

First time was that chainsaw tour in the 2003 and I was 13 so would have lapped up anything he did back then so can’t judge fairly. I absolutely loved it at the time though. We were sat side of stage and I go a high five off Bizarre as they walked off, made my whole year back then. Wouldn’t care at all now.

Saw him at Wembley as an adult maybe ten years ago and he was good. Dre came out for the encore which was fun and Odd Future were great in support.

I found Eminem to be good unless you directly saw what he was doing on stage and that took away some of the performance as you saw how much of it isn't actually live and it's been like that for a while.

I thought the chances of Eminem playing were slim (no pun intended) before the dates announced for October.  Now I think it's non-existent.

I'm not sure what I'd think about him headlining next year, or any year for that matter.  Clearly a huge artist so I'm not saying he doesn't have the credentials to do it, but I'm not sure I'd bother watching him.  Culturally, we've moved on so much since his million-selling prime and the lyrics from the early 00's stuff just seem childish and inappropriate for 2024-5.  He'd be obliged to play the hits though, so suspect it might be a bit cringeworthy.

I'm not huge on hip hop anyway, but would be nowhere near to top of my list.  I've seen RTJ, De La Soul, Pharcyde and Jurassic 5 who would be near the top so it would inevitably pale in comparison.

I can't see Eminem being someone who Glastonbury would book but he's undoubtedly the biggest deal as a hip hop artist and rapper if it happened that they could get.

Imagine if Billy Joel did break his rule though and stuck around that one extra week.

Might go stand outside his house and boom-box The Longest Time at him until he does so.

Who else is left now for the third slot?

Bruce, Billy Joel both been ruled out, Eminem and lady Gaga looking unlikely now.

which leaves Stevie Wonder or Rhianna? Any other contenders remaining?

Gaga is still technically in the game with LG7 coming and rumours of a stadium tour - but she's pretty much an outside bet.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
