As a favour to promoters, because The National sales flopped. He could easily do Sziget as a head

If he didn't do it in 2019 why would he now after 4 years and no releases of much significance. Can't see it

Great set though in '19

Anyway, I've been thinking about a rock headline act, and there's not THAT much possibilities :

Queens of the stone age / The Strokes / Green Day / Paramore / Fall Out Boy / RHCP / Biffy Clyro / My Chemical Romance / Pearl Jam / The Killers / Panic! at the disco

I'm more looking for the replacement of Foo Fighters (2019) and Arctic Monkeys (2022) , rather than Kings of Leon whos' place might be taken by a band like Blur, Imagine Dragons or Nickelback, a more "popish band" ^^

Thats a lot of possibilities + more you've left out too.

Some very questionable - biffy clyro for one and panic have dropped off a lot too

Grouping Blur with Imagine Dragons and Nickelback is absolutely criminal as well

lool 😅 well, whether you like it or not, Blur IS kinda pop-rock...just like imagine dragons or nickelback lol ^^ (even if it's better 😉 )

About Biffy and Panic, they both have recent albums, and biffy headlined download festival last year.. Plus, if poor bands like THE 1975 (sorry 😛 ) can headline sziget, biffy and panic can easily do so ^^

So, so far we have - and correct me if I am wrong:

- Billie Eilish (Headliner - probably 1° pop head)

- Nothing but Thieves (MS - weak subhead or strong 3° place)

- Moderat (undisputed A38 headliner)

And probably Florence as Indie headliner?

2 considerations on my behalf:

1) Rufus du Sol was a last minute booking: although some might say they fit as Bonobo fitted in 2018, do not forget that Bonobo was opening for Gorillaz, which includes a theme similarity and a shared crowd, for the better part. Dua Lipa on the other side is channeling a solo crowd: whoever you put as a sub-head, people in the first row would not really mind, as they are there to be first row for the main event - all good reasons to not make a confront.

Having said this, Moderat are huge in their niche, but not so interesting outside of it. Anybody knows at least a song of them (and like it): reminds me of Fever Ray (2018) or Caribou (2022), hence, A38 headliner - also a big one. Any other slot would be disappointing IMHO

2) IF and I say IF Florence is booked once again, it will be once again proof of how stale the booking situation at Sziget has been for the last 7-8 years. Florence, (and especially) Macklemore and Bastille are all there once every 3 years on average, getting big spots with a decreasing interest and less entertaining albums. Reminds me of Ska P in 2008-2014, but at least they were all about making a good party and were usually lower tier on the MS. Oh well, sic transit gloria mundi.

Have we managed to get into double figures with our possibly list @Sziget2023_Leaks?

Biffy may have done download but are they big in mainland europe? I didn't think they really were.

1975 are big whether you like it or not ...

(Lauran Hibberd and The Big Moon were just wishes from my end, I'm 99% sure they are not big enough for Sziget yet.)

Nice resume, thanks ! I have to say that I strongly believe Amyl & the Sniffers will be here : supposed to be there in 2020 + really great live act + in Europe in August ... 🤞!

Love Florence, but this would be lazy booking. Something similar like Kings of leon this year

maaaan I liked Kings of Leon ! 😅

But I agree, already seen Florence in 2019, only 2 editions back... would be disappointed to see her back that soon on the line up.

    • Avril gets above GC on rarity (see Cypress Hill this year). She drew in something like 70,000 at Glastonbury, so much so that they had to close the field off. I’d wager that she would get the biggest crowd of the entire weekend if she was to play DL.
    • We've reasonably predicted/wanted a bill of Blink, Avril, Good Charlotte for a while 😅    I'm surprised that Good Charlotte's UK shows in November seem to be doing well atm... obviously if they sell out those venues then they should be subheadliners right? (if they play download that is). They'd only look a strong sub if it was before Blink though I rekn.

    • Well Jason Isbell is on blistering form for this run of European gigs, wonderful night in Bristol
    • I am also interested in this. I was looking for past years, and it looks like it has a limited capacity.  I would love to see Ela Minus, but I guess I won't be able to make it in time, unfortunately.
