Royal Blood before The 1975 is weird then again R&L did that in 2019 so not out of the question. Ashnikko is a name I wouldn’t expect on there and Aitch is a good booking but stands out like a sore thumb on that day. I still find it kinda remarkable at Glastonbury 2017 tbf where they could have had Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro and Royal Blood in a row as all 3 were there, but it was split with RB 3rd down on Radiohead day, Foos having The National and Katy Perry as subs and Biffy Clyro being on before Ed Sheeran - the last of which is proper tonal whiplash. As you say through RB before 1975 at least has a precedent. The other two are kinda odd to me tbf - seeing Kasabian below Sam Fender is something of a surprise, much as I'm aware it's a different Kasabian post-Tom Meighan and SF is of festival headline calibre, while Pulp with Ezra subbing, as discussed further up this thread, feels like it's doing a disservice to two different crowds. DomDom1984
T in the Park did the Biffy/Sheeran double punch in 2014, just reversed. I think on a festival with so much going on like Glasto, it's not that big an issue. TRNSMT is different though. Like Glasto though, some of it will come down to scheduling. Ezra behind Pulp though, as said, is down to ticket shifting, which is the name of the game really, so the right move. Royal Blood behind The 1975 has precedent, although I dunno if that's really an excuse. Kasabian behind The 1975 isn't exactly the slickest of shifts either though. Niall Horan in that spot he's in does strike me as a big anomaly though.
Threestripes
Death of guitar pop and Ewan Mcvicar are going to get announced. source :the same guy that told me about pulp. Trust trnsmt to **** it up by putting pulp on the Friday.

First names that came to my mind were The Proclaimers and The View, both still got shows coming up, albeit sold out, they could both reasonably fit in on the Fri/Sat tbf. Seem the most likely suspects going through gig listings anyway. Part of my thinking behind them putting Horan on the Fri is without a big chart friendly name the lineup for that day becomes very 'Radio 2'-like, in that it's more appealing to the slightly older folks (I'd even argue Ezra falls into this category, with his style of 'pop') so they needed something there that will still bring the younger crowds in all 3 days. It wouldn't surprise me if they have a polar opposite to Pulp on the King Tuts stage.

I'd agree that there's not much else there anymore tbf. Maybe Kaiser Chiefs? But equally I'm not sure they're festival sub-head big enough at this point, even if they are going on arenas in a few days. DF clearly think they're possibly big enough if Ezra isn't top billing though. Have Pulp possibly said that they will only take headline slots? Regarding how weird the Friday looks (and it does 🙂 ), I do think "curated" festival days is a more recent thing. I've been going to fests since about 1997 and certainly if you look back at festival line ups from say the 80s, if it wasn't a specialist fest (eg Reading) they often have a high "WTF?" value in terms of totally different acts being all lumped together. Some of the Glastonbury line ups (easy example) look bonkers.

If you want to get a group of 10 friends to camp for 4 days you need music for multiple genres. The super curated ones are usually day fests like APE

Bastilles summer tour next year works perfectly round that TBA slot, in Manchester the Friday then blank date on the Saturday without a Scotland date on the tour as of yet surely slots right in there. Jonesy1
4 different ticket types this year, looks like the front section will only be for VIP+ tickets.

It doesn't say that on their instagram from what i understand, just that if it gets completely filled up then better tickets have priority entering as people leave
DomDom1984
Bastille sure as hell ain't playing that far down. The Snuts aren't playing lower than this year either.

DomDom1984
Might be wrong, but I think Saturday day tickets are gone. Just went on Ticketmaster and can't find em. Found for Friday though.

Tbf, two days sold out last year (albeit one very late) and the Capaldi day would have done good numbers. Pretty sure the 2019 edition did pretty well too. Can't say much about any of the previous two though. From what I could tell, The Killers' day I was at wasn't as packed as others I've been to as far as days go.
