mazola
the best way to measure distances is to fire up Google Earth (the app not the web page) and dial the date back to 2019 You can then draw a path between the points of interest and measure the distance For example John Peel to Pyramid Edited March 29, 2022 by mazola
clarkete
Is anyone still ambitious enough to try this? It looks like it would be a matter of update this chart... With these locations... Add in the times from the original and fill in any gaps with rough estimates relative to the other times. Don't overthink it as it doesn't have to be perfect and we can get plenty of feedback from the ungrateful community.

I am quite tempted to do the google earth thing, when I am back at work next week 😈

We could start with guesstimates couldn't we and then get the efests hive mind to feedback - as long as we don't expect a consensus obviously 😉

Your suggestion is REALLY good I have to say! Anyway could share the raw data for expert view on this AND of course for lenghty forum discussions, because that's the fun part. I’d be keen to know distances between each venue as the walking times already suggested seem a bit inflated to me. With distances you can then factor in the variables such as mud, how busy it is or current state. The distance will remain the same……unless you are zig zagging all over the shop. I had a look at google earth and it's good but then thought of going old fashion, print the 2022 map big and just do some quick measuring, as it includes paths and a scale anyway. Basically like on paper maps where you have distances.

Basically like on paper maps where you have distances. Mapmyrun also let’s you plot your own route and gives you accurate distances. Times are dependant on too many variables, distances are fixed. If you have distances, you can add something like Average times per 1km Low peak - sunny - 15 mins High peak - sunny - 25 mins Low peak - muddy - 20 mins High peak - muddy - 35 mins
GmasterWomble
I'd be interested to know the rough times between each campsite & stages... But I don't know enough to even start and would be a bit of a job

moogster
OK, so I printed a map, took a piece of string, and had a go at distances between stage. It's ROUGH. whenever there's a lot of possible paths, if you can cut through or not (above the park is an easy shortcut, Pyramid or Other may not be), if I mixed up block 9 and WOW (not a dance person), in short, don't be picky about a 100m inconsistency and I got the below. Then assumed a 3 km/h speed ended up with the second tab. I haven't compared with what we have already but maybe it helps. Edited May 31, 2022 by moogster Edited because the tables are time first then distance 1

moogster
Thanks, I have the file open for comments or other scenarios. I find some of the times there quite optimistic. At what speed does one walk at glasto? I think it would be good to have a version for "worst case scenario", busy, mud etc. I just need to change my formula. bexj
Like anything at Glasto, time is unexplained.... but I reckon if you put your head down, conditions are good and you don't allow yourself to be distracted AT all, then your timings are pretty realistic. Admire the practicality of the string approach. I won't even attempt to comment on times, will leave that for others. One question, would it be time consuming to add the Co op? Strikes me that will be a popular destination, but you perhaps decided already that its time would be relative to a nearby stage and therefore unnecessary? I realised that the string is quite convenient to see what path is shorter. I will be the one with a map and a piece of string at the end of each gig 😛 I did want Coop but couldn't be arsed checking exactly where it was. A quick pic and I'll add it 🙂
