She walked through the crowd giving out fistbumps and hugs (she had friends and family some of whom were just in front of us), but I chose to put my phone away when she got within a few feet and just enjoy seeing her being lush. 

 

4 guest vocalists one of them also did a crowd walk, all the band did solos (drummer particularly great), she rapped whilst conducting the orchestra for one track, the orchestra themselves sounded fabulous, for example on Gorilla. She got the crowd on their feet joining in with the show.,so she couldn't have done more and the crowd lapped it up - not always easy in an all seater.

Saw Father John Misty at Rock City last night, and he and his band were outstanding. So much bite given to his songs when played live, and the new album especially shines. 

 

Highly recommend checking in on him this weekend

Particularly soggy night at Halifax, but Deftones were on terrific form. Superbly mixed, I felt, though at a breath of a hair over eighty minutes including an encore break, it's hard to say you necessarily get your money's worth at almost sixty-quid a pop.

 

High Vis were particularly energetic in support, even if the accents were almost cartoonishly exaggerated.

Going to CMAT's Glastonbury Warm Up show tonight!

Father John Misty at the Glasshouse in Gateshead tonight. First time in the venue and thought it was brilliant! Misty was pretty excellent too, great setlist and the new songs sounded terrific! Really enjoyed Loren Kramer as the support act too, his Lana Del Rey covers were leftfield but very good! Can't wait to watch his set from home on Saturday!

CMAT last night- brilliant! It was billed as the Glastonbury Warm Up show and they did their 60min set in order. Then came back and did a sort of acoustic encore.

What a performer! Great fun - I hope it translates on the Pyramid and that they go down really well.

Miles Kane, last gig at The Leadmill in it's current guise. Put his heart and soul into it. No special guests but a cracking send off for the old place. New songs sounding good too.

Future islands at Liverpool olympia last night in great form so if you get a chance to catch them at park stage tonight I'd definitely recommend it 👍

Got over my Glasto blues by seeing James in Cannock Chase. Gig, weather and atmosphere superb and it was nice of Tim Booth to pop by and say hi mid set!

Anywho, Weezer were reliable if perhaps a little stolid in Halifax last night. Plenty of their tunes still stand the test of the time, but even at eighty minutes, it did feel a little draining at points. (Might have been my dehydration.)

Stevie wonder Lytham last night he was magnificent and his band are so good . So glad to finally get to see him .

On down side lots of pissed up people who spent more time gabbing going bar and taking photos than enjoying the icon but hey ho that happens a lot now

Went to BST yesterday

 

Noah Kahan - I really think if his next album lands then he is a Glasto headliner, I was nowhere near the front and still everyone around me was belting out every word, even to the more obscure songs, a bit of a lull in the middle with his slower stuff but if he has a few more hits on the next album then he could smash a headline slot. He also loves a collab/guest (brought Gracie Abrams, and Gigi Perez back out for songs, and also brought Lewis Capaldi out last night) so you know he will bring out a couple on a headline spot.

 

Gracie Abrams - Superstar in the making, I've fallen in love with her music in the last year and she's brilliant live, so many of the songs come across better live than on recording too. She also brought out Aaron Dessner for a few songs which was pretty cool.

 

Paris Paloma - Very good live performance, she was on the second stage, not sure if they just have particularly good sound tech there but it was such a clean, good sounding performance. She's a really captivating performer too.

 

Gigi Perez - only a 30 minute set so only had 6 songs or so, incredible voice and she hits the notes live. Took her a little to settle in but once she got going she sounded great.

 

Still not keen on Hyde Park as a venue for shows but seeing all 4 of these in one day made it absolutely worth it, fantastic day.

En-route to Kneecap, Amyl..., and Fontaines. Feeling v.jaded tbh. Have been unsociable in not meeting up with folk other than planning to meet a mate who is planning to travel back from Cardiff this afternoon but sounds like had a bit of a party after Oasis so will see if he makes it. A kill or cure Guinness than in for Kneecap is my plan!

Public Image Limited in Pompey. Lydon's still got incredible pipes and the band are TIGHT. Bass was so good I nearly shat myself. Brilliant setlist. Support band The Jacques were really good too.

Was a great afternoon/night. 

 

Got in for a bit of Blondshell who sounded decent.

 

Kneecap were fun and a strong but measured short speech re Palestine, quite moving tbh.

 

Amyl and the Sniffers not really my thing but a likeable band and were good fun.

 

Fontaines have a great songbook across 4 albums now.

Fontaines DC at Finsbury - not sure what else to say, what a brilliant gig! A brilliant production, setlist and the crowd was fantastic too

Amyl were great fun too and despite not being the biggest fan of their tunes my goodness Kneecap know how to put on a show
