WTF, just browsing the clashfinder and have seen Katie Price on Talking Shop/Last Laugh at 00:50 tonight. Might have to rethink Bicep 🤔😵💫

This is presumably the Last Laugh version of when the first poster came out and a load of wits went "The Birthday Party have reformed?!?!?" because one of the stage DJs at the bottom was listed as Birthday Party.

The low flying aircraft at about 3pm was enough of a special guest.

That plane almost came in the tent; thought we were done for.

Highlights so far?

Mdou Moctar were fabulous, enjoyed that set so much.

Kraftwerk were great, annoying crowd chatting though which also happened during Honeyglaze. Conversely when Maria BC played the crowd were dead silent.

Really enjoyed Tenderhost, Robocobra Quartet and English Teacher on Rising. Witch and Mandrake Handshake were good fun too.

Too many clashes today. Mary Lattimore Vs Deathcrash, BCNR Vs Tara Clerkin Vs Arooj Aftab.

First time at green man and wow what an amazing place and vibe. So many stand out moments. The mountain headliners were all fantastic, Kiwanuka especially last night was breathtaking. Loved Melin Melyn, Porn Crumpets, Ezra last night, Imarhan were also a lovely surprise. Worst moment of the weekend was having to choose between BCNR and Arooj, went for the latter as BCNR will probably be around more and despite the above post I don’t regret my decision, she was amazing.

Had a great time at Greenman. Carwyn Ellis and Ezra Furman probably my favourites but there wasn't anyone I didn't like. Maybe a little disappointed with Cassandra Jenkins and BCNR, but still neither were unenjoyable. Hadn't heard of Afla Sackey and Afrik Bawantu, or Lice before so they were good discoveries. Wish the clash with Ezra and Ty Seagall hadn't been there as what I saw of the latter looked really fun. Thought Arab Starp to Beach House to Bicep was going to be stressful but got to see a decent amount of all three of them in the end.

Very impressed with the beer selection. Thought the food was pretty good, the breakfast wrap up from one of the vans near the babbling tongue tent was really tasty. Nice atmosphere, everyone seemed very friendly, didn't see a bit of aggro which is good.

What other highlights did people have among the smaller acts?

Melin Melyn have been mentioned, otherwise BCUC, Kathleen Frances, Alice Low, KEG and Tapir!.

Kraftwerk/PSB worked as well as it could have done, Kiwanuka and Beach House were immense, also Grove, Pictish Trail, Torres and the Weddoes covering Low.

Jonathan Ross was there, apparently...

Just home, and had a very enjoyable weekend.

Of the lesser known bands I’d say Umlauts were the biggest hit for me. Also enjoyed Ciel, El Goodo, Keg and Melin Melyn.

Higher up the bill I thought Ezra Furman and Viagra Boys were each outstanding, Arab Strap were as good as i’d hoped for and i’d forgotten how loud and fun TuneYards can be.

I saw loads on Rising.

Tenderhost, Tapir, Lemondaze, Pushpin and Robocobra Quartet were all bands I hadn't seen before and I enjoyed all of them.

Others that I have already seen on that stage were Bingo Fury, Grandma's House, English Teacher and Deathcrash who were magnificent.

Gutted to have missed Blue Bendy and Joe & The Shitboys who were by all accounts brilliant and had an extremely chaotic mosh pit.

Our 9th Green Man and we had another absolutely wonderful weekend. Managed to see 35 bands, not including those we watched at Settlers.

Lots more people were there for the week this time. Was a great atmosphere in Settlers, the stage and bar area were bigger which was excellent. All they could have done with was an extra food vendor or 2 as the only choices were pizza or curry.

Thursday with the Mountain Stage open was great. I didn't watch any bands there that day but it spread everyone out and I really hope they carry that on next year.

Watched so much good stuff, far too many to mention in one go but my highlights were Mdou Moctar, Ty Segall, Parquet Courts, Deathcrash, Grove, Kraftwerk, Murder Capital, Keg, Mandrake Handshake, Ichiko Aoba and the brilliant Bicep.

As for the site, I heard someone confidently telling others there were lots more people there this year. I didn't really notice that although there were times when some sections seemed a lot busier but that could have been due to people all wanting to see the same things. Not sure on anyone else's views of that?

Toilets were good apart from Sunday evening when they just started stinking although on the whole I prefer the long drops because you don't have the issue of opening the door and encountering an absolute literal shitstorm like you do in the portaloos. Soap dispensers by the taps were great as well.

Food was good, slightly more expensive but that's to be expected. My favourite was the Indonesian place in Walled Garden that weirdly never had much of a queue while people were standing around waiting to be served at the sushi placed next to it in what looked like a 30 minute line.

Beer was great again, the £2 per cup probably saved me buying more than I should have done because every time I forgot to take a cup with me I baulked at paying £2 for another.

The people were amazing as ever. Didn't encounter any twats at all and all the bands I chatted to around the site were totally friendly.

One thing I did notice was a lack of wristband checks once in the site. They used to always have people on the top path as you walk in from Settlers but had none this year. I'm all for a relaxed environment but that just struck me as a little strange as anyone jumping a fence could have strolled through to watch bands all weekend with no bother.

All in all it was an incredible week, such a well organised festival full of great music and lovely people on an amazing site.

First time for us too, and we both thought it was superb. Ezra Furman & TuneYards really impressed. Metronomy was really punchy. Was looking forward to Frazey Ford which didn't disappoint. Penelope Isles were great. Bess Atwell was lovely. Only caught the end of Arooj Aftab, but it was stunning. John Mouse was a fun way to start!

Gruff and his guests (didn't catch the name) was really clever and quite emotional. Rio18 Orchestra was perfect Sunday morning stuff

Discovered WITCH, BCUC, Donny Benet. Still trying to work-out Keeley Forsyth, but you could hear a pin drop during her set.

Vibe not quite right for Kraftwerk where we were standing. I love Beach House but it didn't really click for us, and following TuneYards was a tough ask. Michael Kiwanuka pitch-perfect and a great finale

Would love to go back

Agree. I heard a garbled walkie talkie saying something like; "please check wristbands... lots of complaints... ". Then the next morning they had the additional orange vests at the bottom of the steps at the main arena entrance. But yeah, not a particularly tough job for any blaggers that fancy a day out...

First visit to Green Man and can only say how gutted I am to have missed the previous 19 festivals! It’s the most stunning location.

I had 2 of my kids with me and they absolutely loved it - incredible amount for the young folk to do. They are 10/11 so enjoyed the Flying Seagulls in Little Folk but also lots of activities in Somewhere & Einsteins Garden. And of course Bubble Inc…!

Because of the above I didn’t see as many bands as I’d like but I can put that right at EOTR next week when I am child free. Highlight was BCNR as I mentioned above - that second last song they played, led by May on the piano, the reception they got from the crowd set me right off. Loved Melin Melyn and their reaction to the aircraft (Bloody Hell!!) and Cate Le Bon was absolutely wonderful, even viewed from afar.

My only issue was camping - because everyone compares GM and EOTR I wasn’t really anticipating the struggle to find a spot to camp! We arrived on site at 4pm on Thursday but it was quickly clear there was very little space. We were parked right at the end of the northern car park and walked across the whole site (at least up to Settlement Bar) before realising everywhere was the same and we just had to find a gap somewhere to squeeze in. The kids were knackered & after the second trip back to the car I was a broken man for the rest of the day!

Overall though we had such a great time - gutted we couldn’t stay for the burning of the Green Man last night so we’ll definitely be back to see that!

There were checks at the fire outside chai wallahs around 01:00 with security shining torches on a handful of peoples wrists.  Looked like lip service.
