Pop shite

Always an interesting conversation this. Risky, but interesting 😉

So without trying to create a battleground, do you think there's a set of specific genres, or at least criteria, that they should stick to when booking?

If they do that then it's just repeated trips to the same, increasingly shallow, Coldplay/Muse/Arctics pool.

Not at all, or at least not necessarily.  That's a limited pool of artists, not genres.

What it would need I suppose is the freedom or courage to select headliners that aren't necessarily "headline material" to be able to cast the net a bit wider

speaking of headliners I re-found out the other day the 1975 have an album that's actually called "i like it when you sleep for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it" and some of you want them to headline?

Holy Fire, now that's a headline band album title.

If you remove "pop shite" then you'll inevitably have to remove "hip hop/rap shite" and eventually you'll narrow the pool down to just white dudes with guitars. And there are only so many gangs of white dudes with guitars to go around which is why you'll end returning to the same pool.

Just because Taylor Swift has been outlawed doesn't mean that people will accept bumping up bands like Wolf Alice or Idles to full headliner status. Just go have a look at the Facebook page for conclusive evidence.

Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost is the work of a band who should be headlining the annual Hewlett Packard convention.

That's why the question is "what are the criteria?"

Saying that x inevitably means y might be correct, but it also has the potential to be jump in your logic akin to gay marriage leads to everyone marrying a horse.

Remember, this thread is a safe space as well!  Think back to founding principles...

I don't think that's true, and my wife, Seattle Flyer, agrees.
