Latest message from my friend in Pennsylvania, volunteering at a polling station: “A little concerned. Seen lots of black, Latino, and Asian folks casting their lot for Donald Trump. But we're less than 2 hours in.

Just listening to todays Americast Podcast and they're saying as the thinking is that Pennsylvania is expected to take quite a long time to tabulate, the states to watch are Georgia and North Carolina who should be able to announce fairly quickly, perhaps even during the night or early morning.

Isn't Pennsylvania like a lot of places...all the Democrat voters are in the cities i.e. Philadelphia and Pittsburgh...the rural areas are more Republican.

Yep pretty much. That's one of the things that contributed to 'stop the count' last time.... Philadelphia was still to be counted and Biden was rapidly catching up with Trump.

I remain totally flabbergasted that this election can be close...

Whole lot of stupid racist people whose brains were totally broken by having a black president for 8 years and Trump has done a great job of playing in to that and dividing the country further through lies and hate. So many people completely emboldened in their ignorance and vitriol.

Its happened the world over. Most governments who presided over the post-covid cost of living crisis have been voted out.

yes, although I'd argue it was post-covid but also energy cost rises following Russia invading Ukraine. So, not really the fault of Biden, but he gets punished for it...same with Tories here, although there was a load of other factors that caused them to get kicked out (austerity/brexit/partygate/Truss).

and even less the fault of Harris, but that's the way the cookie crumbles I guess.

Anyway, Trump is going to lose.

Right?

RIGHT?!

    • Crikey.   I remember Muse cancelling a Lolla headline set in 2017 due to a massive thunderstorm after only 3 songs. Clearly this is an area of the world where the storms don't f**k around.
    • I still think they might take another shot at the normal weekend.    I'm also pretty sure this exact same speculation was happening after the last one.
    • Meanwhile in Chicago. Rained overnight at Lolla. Now they pushed back opening til the afternoon. But thunderstorms and lightning forecast. Maybe if the city invested in proper drainage they couldve tried to salvage the day.
    • Wasn't just me who thought it was either oversold or inadequately setup for the event then? For Pride, over the weekend, where there's also acts in the large blue marquee that was to the right of the "arena" (for want of a better term), it's probably much better as people are dispersed more. Thought the band were great, as was Nick, though he was clearly struggling with his voice at times.
    • I got in for £11.25 in the end, which was absolutely ridiculously good value, and made the queues and overselling of the venue much more tolerable! Sniping in on other people’s unwanted tickets on the day of an event might become my new hobby I think 🥳
