F5?

Yello Peeps,

Where does everybody stand on this?. To F5 or not to F5?. Last year was the first time I've not got tickets in a good few years but I've honestly not gotten past the hold screen myself since about 2013. Have been lucky enough via mates getting through. With regards to refreshing the page it seems like there is misleading info on this as the official line that I've heard from See Tickets (I think) in the past has been to not refresh and then wait to see if the page transforms into the reg details section.

I don't think this has ever worked for me though. Do you leave that shit running and keep blind faith (like I've done possibly misguidely in the past) in the system or do you refresh fuck outta that sumbitch?. What do people do?. Best of luck to everybody trying this evening and on Sunday. x

No there is no point. Just watch the screen and allow it to refresh.

I know people on my group who think "trying" means sitting on the auto-refresh screen... facepalm! So yes, you may need to make this clear to them.

I have got through not using F5 for 2017 because I was roped into child minding but maybe it was sheer luck and I wouldn't ever risk it again.

no insight either way but I think it's the passive-Ness of just waiting for auto refresh that puts me off.

To ensure you don’t exceed the once a second f5 pressing say bananas between each press and watch the wheel of death spin. I reckon that gives you sixty presses in around seventy seconds. Never take your eyes off the screen.

It's the stare you give the sold out screen...  that's the one that stays with me.

F5 all the way, although I've had it in the past (2012 I think) where the browser I wasn't refreshing was successful, so I'd always have one of those going in the background.

FWIW, last Friday when I bought tickets for the London NYE fireworks through See Tickets the moment they went on sale, it had the same 20 second countdown.  I hit F5 a few times and got through in less than 20 seconds.

My anxiety levels are soaring. Will be trying on multiple wifi networks, 4G, across multiple devices, some refreshed, some being left to refresh automatically.

Also just realised my Macbook Pro doesn't have a physical F5 button on (bloody touchbar). Need that manual button to mash!

CMD + R I believe (not a Mac owner though)

Last year I was thrashing f5 like a sailor sending SOS by morsecode on a sinking ship only to glance sideways and see the registration page appear on an I pad that was refreshing every 20s. Just pure luck.

Last year in my office 2 of us had 7 pc's all refreshing automatically without F5.  One PC of the 7 got through and tickets were purchased, 5 minutes later same PC got through again and more tickets for 2nd group purchased. F5 wasn't pressed a single time.

I had two PCs with two screens and two phones last year and I was scared I'd miss one getting through! I don't know how you could focus on so many at once!

Question (probably asked before) - what browsers are people using? I use Chrome by default, but in the past i've had luck with Opera and I think Safari. Shouldn't make much of a difference, but Opera's render times I think are better.

I've got Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Opera, not sure how many to actually use haha

Been having a look and Brave is apparently very fast on Mac. Might give that a go on one of my machines as a wildcard.

we line up all the screens in a row, you can see them all refreshing in front of you and as soon as one hit's the booking page, straight on it.

Smart. We have stupid desk pods so I just scoot round on my chair to get to each one. I bet it looks super weird to the student accommodation opposite.
