Heard one life stand on Laverne's show this morning and it sounded fantastic. I've agreed with my girlfriend to see the killers instead. Might have been an error ?

I can confirm it is an error.

There's nothing wrong with the current drummer.  If I was in a rehearsal room auditioning* and he sat down at the kit I'd be amazed and hire him on the spot, but Sarah added an ineffable sense of urgency to the music.  It's not like the difference between Robbie Maddix and Reni, and might even be my imagination, but she just seemed a bit tighter and slightly further forward on the beat.

It's not as if he's Stephen Morris or anything.  I expect gigging a bit will improve things. He's already very good.

* It is very many years since I've seen the inside of a rehearsal room.

I think there were a bit of nerves but he had a good groove! Took the lead from Al Doyle most of the way so not sure how rehearsed he is. Any idea who he is?

I love Hot Chip, been a fan for at least 10 years, in fact, think the first time I saw them was Glastonbury 2007/2008 (in the JP), but fuck me, that cover of Sabotage is appalling.

Politics of compromise my friend. Seeing them on the weekend and already caught Jon Hopkins this year, so it's the logical choice.

Either that or dump your girlfriend....

In 2007 my girlfriend went to watch The Killers at the Pyramid, I went to The Park to see Africa Express.  I won.

Despite this, somehow we're married with a child.

You haven't permitted her to attend another Glastonbury though.

They tweeted that they are on at 20:30 sharp tonight.

Why is that?

Is it because they are playing at somewhere that's a nightclub afterwards?

I hate that. Places should either do a gig night, or a club night, not greedily try to squeeze in both.  It means you have to be in absurdly early to have a chance of seeing a support act, and you don't have enough time to have a few drinks before the headliner comes on. If I was in a band I'd refuse to play places like that.

If that's not the reason, apologies for the rant.

Only made it through about 30 seconds before concluding that if I am to hear it properly then 4 days solid drinking may be required first.

Hopefully long set. My wish list is 117 songs long.

    • 13th Primavera (Thursday was definitely making me feel like this was the cursed year).  Blood Orange was such a party by the end of their set but we all knew that rain storm was approaching.  So gutted Massive Attack didn't play after the false hope of a new rescheduling, especially knowing that Elizabeth Fraser & Horace Andy were backstage with them!  Managed a bit of Melt Banana but was just so over the weather by that point.   Friday was awesome, Rilo Kiley were so much fun.  Never big the biggest Cure fan but made the effort for them & Robert Smith sounds like he did back in the 80s.  PinkPantheress & Viagra Boys were also great.   The highlight for me was Sudan Archives on the Saturday, she was stunning & with the Olivia Rodrigo surprise set too it made up for the Thursday sh*t show.  Dijon & Knocked Loose also superb.   Shoutout to Cardiacs on the Tuesday too, they were so LOUD, played a storming set.
    • OK, never mind, I'll take normal Nine Inch Nails.
    • Probably my least favourite of the five editions I've been to, but still plenty good enough for me to go again. Weirdly, I was just totally running out of stamina a lot earlier into the night than I remember happening in the past. I feel like I missed a lot of the weirder sets on the smaller stages as I was just totally cooked. Not Primavera's fault, obviously. Maybe I'm just getting old - or maybe I need to pace my drinking better...   Anyway - is David Byrne a realistic get for next year? Certainly hoping so.
    • watching clips of the cure in Barcelona, wow 2 hours 25 minute set. That's gonna be tough on the Sunday but can't bloody wait for it
