I assumed that was for the in-the-round seating that doesn't appear to have been used yet for many events.

The absolutely magnificent Cattle Decapitation, who are perhaps the premier exponents of deathgrind these days - give Death Atlas a spin, its probs my favourite album of the last decade or so - absolutely furious and quite melodic alongside the heavy, the riffs and the screams.

Vulvodynia are one of the support, and Revocation are the last one though ill be honest i havtn got a clue about them - the first three i do know and have listened to. I bloody love metal band logos, theyre increasingly ridiculous - Sanguisugabogg would be my favourite, them or Xavleg 😄 genuine nonsense logos, theyre a day off for a graphic designer

To the uninitiated, you can politely say it is "challenging".

 

To those in the know, I'd still recommend ear defenders. They do go quite loud.

Yeah, I was actually surprised that I could read one of the bands' names! They should ask for their money back on that logo, it's nowhere near metal enough if you can read it!

The promoters of these shows, Cuffe & Taylor, seem to be expanding their reach. Getting the Def Leppard/Motley Crue tour which also stopped at Wembley Stadium (albeit with poor ticket sales) was a sign they're looking to move to bigger headline acts. 
It's still possible JT will play at BST...

Wouldn't read much into that - C&T are part of Live Nation, and so their reach is whatever LN wants it to be.

Interesting, didn't know that! So likely LN will probably be happy to use their name to promote things and make it seem like there are others in the game.

• Chappaqua Wrestling
•  Brooke Combes

Anyone else I should be looking out for?

 

Wasn’t sure where to post this but as there are still tickets available it kinda fits this thread. 

I know they were mentioned last week but after seeing them in Malta yesterday, The Royston Club are an absolute must see for me. Great live performance, and one of those bands with a cult Northern following so the atmosphere should be great.

Engine Rooms is one of my locals. It's OK, but my advice is take earplugs. I have never known a venue to be so absolutely bloody deafening.

Name and catalogue absolutely does. But again, he's not had fantastic press recently, and not in the "Matty Healy performative" type of press.

Chelmsford has a history of big outdoor gigs. Not just V Festival but also Take That, Boyzone and Peter Andre in their original 90s peak, Beautiful South in their massive Carry On Up the Charts era, the Quo, Elton John. All at a time big outdoor concerts weren't particularly common. We've lost that in recent years as these things have exploded elsewhere. JT returns us to that tradition, but I am scratching my head at the location. The racecourse is outside the city with an infrequent 30 minute bus ride plus 15 minute walk and until now has only had a modest annual programme of lesser acts who would be nowhere near a BST headline slot.

Also, not UK dates, per se, but Gojira have mapped out a big French tour which could hand pointers to a pop over the Channel outside of Bloodstock. Not sure on their exclusivity there.
